Foreign Driver's License?

Hello! I was wondering when my husband comes here will he be able to use his Moroccan driver's license or what? Is there an international driver's license that you can obtain? or does he have to come here and go to the DMV and do everything all over again? please share if you have any information, thank you!

^{My fiancé was able to get an international driver's license (he actually arrives tomorrow!) with no problem. It's good for up to 1 year (that's if you have a valid driver's license in your own country, of course).}

I don't know if they are available in Morocco, but I assume so- my "license' was really a small booklet that listed my information in tons of different languages and it was good for 1 year, as well. Ultimately, he will need become a licensed driver in the state you both reside in. Some states have reciprocal agreements with other countries for a license exchange although I don't believe Morocco is one of the select few .

Although, it might very from state to state, it is my understanding that the validity of one year for a International License is in regards to non immigrant visitors.

I remember once I was visiting my husband (before I got my immigrant visa) and I went out to a club with some friends..and they almost didn't let me in because they don't accept out of state ID. But for the fact that I was clearly of age (34 at the time) and my friend knew the owner, I would have been bounced.

I remember once I was visiting my husband (before I got my immigrant visa) and I went out to a club with some friends..and they almost didn't let me in because they don't accept out of state ID. But for the fact that I was clearly of age (34 at the time) and my friend knew the owner, I would have been bounced.

I had to do a driving test in my state though different DMVs in different counties seemed to provide different answers on the phone when I was making my initial inquiries. At the end of the day it was easy enough to get it all done and convenient, as mentioned, to have a state-issued ID sooner rather than later. It helped with everything from opening bank accounts to registering the kids for school.

Be careful with the requirements a few years back someone on here from California arrived on a K1 ran up to Vegas to get married and got pulled over on the way home and got a ticket because California gives you 10 days to get a state licence after moving here.

I knew that it was 10 days in CA but the ticket being issued on a k-1 on the way home from 'eloping' seems like a grey-ish area since conditional residency on a k-1 is contingent on getting married , so I would have thought it would have been 10 days after the marriage.

Like others, strongly urge your husband to get a FL license upon arrival. Aside from making him legal (and FL is aggressive about checking these things) it is also smart because he will learn local laws. Also need to think about insurance - if he's driving you need to add him to your policy and for that he will need a valid license.
