I just received official notification today; I have been selected for an assignment to England with a report no later than date of January 31st, 2014.

Alright, where do I go from here with my wife getting naturalized?

This thread is probably helpful http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/107190-expidited-citizenship-for-military-spouses/

Not sure how current it is though.

It is but it isn't lol. It does have good details, problem is, I'm Air Force; we get assignment notification a few months in advance, but our actual ORDERS don't get cut until maybe a week to two weeks before we have to leave (it's actually one of the last things we do before we leave, most of our outprocessing is done using an assignment RIP and pre-formatted forms tailored to our next duty assignment). I'm lucky in the fact that the orders I've been assigned I've been expecting as they are orders I applied and volunteered for (as opposed to waiting until I get randomly selected to go somewhere else).

I'm gonna try calling USCIS today (or this week sometime since my schedule recently changed and is insane) and see what I have to do. If she needs to stay, my family will gladly take her in for as long as she needs, but we both would EXTREMELY prefer if she was able to come with, since it will be a fast and furious transition.

Your best bet is to just wait until she can apply for naturalization after 3 years and then she can do it all overseas. If not, she has to complete the process in the US.

We were in a similar position when I got my orders to italy. We just renewed her GC and will apply for naturalization within the next year.

That's also something I'll have to ask about; the base we're going is very tiny in the middle of nowhere, and is owned by the Royal Air Force, not the U.S. Air Force, so is it still considered U.S. soil? And can she do everything over there if it's not, or even live over there period? She's got four college degrees, so will she even be able to work or is that all for naught? Because she's not gonna live here without me for three years lol. There's no way that's happening.

For PCS you should receive your orders way before 1-2 weeks before you depart. They can probably get AFPC to cut them now if you talk to the right people and explain your situation (assuming you have turned in everything your assignment counselor needs).

Start with talking to your shirt.

If you can't get the orders for whatever reason usually a MFR letter in lieu of orders signed by the CC will work.

My husband is Air Force. He's set to move back to the US in less than 7 weeks. He has his orders now. But when we initially asked for an expedite, we only sent his RIP and a memo from his commanding officer.

Ours is an immigrant visa application. but, trust me, I don't think you have to be the one calling USCIS. It's her naturalization application after all. I've been the one in charge of researching all the info we need from the very start and I've never had issues. As for the actual expedite request, can only advise you send the email or make the call yourself. It's more effective the way. Everything else, I'm sure your wife can ask.

As long as you are being stationed there by the USAF, you should be fine. As long as you are command sponsored you are good. Aviano isn't a US air base either. the Italians own it and it is actually an Italian base.

Ivy, i have been researching the naturalization requirements and process, as well as rights and obligations for US citizens

as well as dual citizenship

just because my husband has concerns, doesnt mean that i havent done anything

and as to what i have found in all possible websites is that if the US citizen is going to be employed abroad for 1 year or more (military included, but not limited to), their spouse can apply for US citizenship without any requirement of being in the US for years and stuff

there is only a few things that i am not entirely sure about , it is how long the process will take and does the spouse have to be present in the US for all that time, because as u know if u are on orders, u have to go and if there is an exception because of that for military wives ... as opposed to wives of other people who live abroad

now the fact is that Kyle called the USCIS because he wasnt sure about the whole process as i was, since it was me who researched it

and well i am not entirely sure what they talked about, but the USCIS seems to be unware of its own policies ... big surprise there

Indeed, I called and talked to a Tier 2 agent, who told me Eli is not eligible to apply for expedited citizenship; I told them everything; where we're going (England), when we received the assignment notification (October 24th), how long we'll be there for (three years or more), how long she's been in the U.S. (since March 23rd), how long we've been married (almost a year and a half), and that she's a condition LPR. I even said their website contradicted what they were saying, but she stuck by what she told me. So now I'm thoroughly confused. I look at all the laws and everything, and it says what it says; we're eligible. Yet we have at least two agents of USCIS saying the complete opposite.
