I did call the NVC number this morning but they told me that the embassy was the only one with the interview information. How is it that people are getting their interview date from the DOS?

For a K1, NVC is only a handoff place from USCIS (petition) to DOS (visa). They assign a new DOS case number and send the file to the appropriate embassy. Then they have no further info.

NVC does not know what London has scheduled. DOS can see on their computers if something has been scheduled. DOS is the "parent" of NVC and the embassy. But Until you wait at least 4 weeks after your application, medical, and readiness for interview form are received at the embassy, you are probably premature in calling DOS to ask if you have an interview. The embassy says wait 6 weeks.

"Please note that you can expect to wait 6 weeks from the date on which you email the forms before being contacted by the Immigrant Visa Unit. We will not respond to status requests during this time. " found on this page http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness.html

Nich-Nick - Thank you for always helping me out! :) You've always given such great advice!

And to the rest in this post, I thank you for sticking in there with me and my silly questions.

I called the general visa line at the DOS and they told me that my fiance's interview is scheduled for Nov 26th! I guess, the Packet 4 will come in sometime this week???

There ya go! You were calling the wrong place. And it is right around the 4 week mark that they had something to tell you.

Yes! Call the DOS on +1 202 485 7600 and choose option 1 and then option 0. I called today to be told that my husband's interview had been scheduled for LAST week at the London embassy (the notice was sent out apparently exactly 7 days before the interview date) and he was marked as a "no-show". We never received the notice and the CEAC site status never changed from ready. In fact, on the same date the letter was apparently sent to us, we got an email from the embassy saying that they got all of our docs and we would hear in 4 weeks. Our lawyer (we used a lawyer for this process) called the London embassy 3 days after the letter was apparently sent out and was told no interview had been set up yet. Now after 10 weeks of waiting since my husband had the medical, we have missed the interview! This is devastating as we were expecting to be back in the US by now - we have sold our house and are living in a hotel, and we both have jobs lined up that we are meant to start ASAP. I will be fine, but I think now, unless we get a quick rescheduling, my husband's job offer will be pulled. So, please, for your own sake, contact the DOS or email the embassy to make sure you don't find yourself in this same situation. Good luck.

I made it a habit to call DoS every Friday, just so we wouldn't miss the interview date in case something happened with the mail. I never got my notification of the interview date, which I believe we were both supposed to get notice. She got her letter, but I had found out beforehand anyway by calling them for an update.

Just FYI, I have had around 12 or 13 CEAC date status updates - and as of Nov 2nd have no interview scheduled yet. I hope you are lucky but don't get too excited just yet!! The Embassy received all my documents on Sep 27th and my medical was Sep 16th. Nov 4th and still waiting.

Out of curiosity, by "receive" do you know that's when they arrived (i.e. they signed for them) or are you using that term like they do to mean "logged into the system"? I was told by DoS that 'received' to them means when someone actually logs your stuff in and they don't actually keep track of when it arrived.

I'd love to find an accurate new'ish estimate on the time between logging & interview. Their site says they're working on Nov 8th and earlier. Ours were logged in on Nov 5th.

I did email them to ask about appt times. I know a LOT of people are emailing saying they want to be together for Christmas. I have a son with a spinal cord tumor and we'd love for my fiance to be here before our next big medical exam/testing/neurologist review in January. We never would have guessed there'd be a chance he wouldn't have been here by then (NOA2 in July).. but I worry with the holidays and such that his might get pushed back enough that he'll miss it.

10/23/13 - DoS says our case is still "processing" and not "qualified" (interview ready) and to do newest forms.
11/05/13 - CEAC Update. DoS says case is "eligible for interview" and we're waiting on next interview date.
