I was just wondering if it was ok to email them about my fiance's interview date? I saw that our status was updated yesterday and I believe that they've made the decision on our appointment date because it's been updated already after everything was sent in and we haven't sent/done anything for a few weeks now.

They will send a letter when you have a date. An email won't get you anywhere.

Yea nich-Nick is right by the time they get round to replying ,it is likely for you to have had your interview already.if like alot of other people myself included you have run out of patience at this stage you could always call department of state.they will be able to tell you if and when you have a interview

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Nich-Nick and Jola. They received our paperwork on 6th Sept and we have been waiting for an interview date since then. I emailed them at the four week mark and they responded after 5 days saying it takes approx four weeks to process the forms and issue a date. We are now at 7 weeks and still no date. I emailed them again last week and didn't even get an acknowledgement of email, let alone a response.

You can try calling DOS, they are quite friendly (in my experience) but I'm not sure how accurate their info is as they told me consistently that all our forms had been received and we were simply waiting for a date until a CEAC update last week, after which they told me that our paperwork had been processed and is eligible and we are now waiting for a date. Its very confusing!

Hopefully you hear something soon - my fiance and I filed in Sept 2012 and have hit delays every step of the way. I have not seen him since January and I'm trying so hard to stay calm and not let this delay get to me, so I appreciate more than most how frustrating it is simply to wait and see others get dates in a much shorter time.

Good luck!

Calling DOS seems to be beneficial for some and not for others. It's a roll of the dice really. For me it was a good experience. We had to reschedule our original interview date as London scheduled it during a time he specifically communicated that he was out of the country on business travel. We issued a change of interview request via the "contact form" and within two days we had a new status update. I called DOS, said I noticed a status update change and asked if it was the new interview date. I was delighted to be told it was. Best of luck to you.

Out of 3 contact forms filled out to the London embassy, exactly 0 received a response.

Call the Department of State number, you'll be a lot better off. Have your case number, beneficiaries' name, and date of birth ready, and you'll be all set.

Just make sure you call during the hours that they're open. Tomorrow's your last chance before the weekend.

To make this clear to the new person who started this thread. The DOS can't do anything to give you an interview. That's up to the embassy and some have waited 6-7 weeks. DOS can't tell you how much longer it's going to take. If the embassy has scheduled a date, it will show up on DOS computers and you can find out before waiting for the mail to come. Some at DOS will tell you if you are interview qualified or ready, meaning they have acknowledged all your bits and pieces are there but you aren't on the schedule yet. . But if they say your forms or medical or some piece is not received, it doesn't mean it's lost in space. It can take weeks for them to get around to picking up your file and working on it and updating all you mailed in (or submitted online) 6 weeks ago.

Thanks Nich-Nick, rightly said. I'm still lost for words at how long this process is taking, its getting ridiculous.

On Monday I contacted the Embassy via the Contact Form regarding an interview date. Thursday afternoon I received an email back stating the day of our interview. Contacting the Embassy via the Contact Form does work.

I think they just pick and choose when and who they reply to ,they took around two weeks to reply to me when I first used the contact form but once I had a email from them and was able to just reply to the email they sent me ,they were pretty good with a quick reply .

Comment aimed at no-one in particular.

Call me a crazy defeatist but I'd rather they spent all their time actually issuing visas rather than answering questions about *when* they were going to issue the aforementioned visas. I came to the conclusion fairly early on that this process was going to take as long as it took and there really was little I (as one of 10's of thousands of applicants) could do about it. Consequently the process ran along pretty much the time-scale I expected on day one. I certainly didn't plan flights/weddings on any expectation that I could divine or influence the process of something as kafkaesque as a government bureaucracy.

Thank you all for your responses and advice! It's definitely appreciated! I think I may call DOS tomorrow. We sent in all of our paperwork and they received it on Oct 4th. Then my fiance had his medical on Oct 9th and they updated right after that. And the most recent update was on Oct 23rd but I don't know what for. Does that sound like a typical timeline?

Just FYI, I have had around 12 or 13 CEAC date status updates - and as of Nov 2nd have no interview scheduled yet. I hope you are lucky but don't get too excited just yet!! The Embassy received all my documents on Sep 27th and my medical was Sep 16th. Nov 4th and still waiting.
