The story says the police repeatedly asked the boy to drop the weapon; instead he raised it in their direction.

It's easy in hindsight to say they shouldn't have shot him; but I'm not sure at that moment it's so easy to make that call.

no, deadly force was not justified. obviously. cops should be a little bit more in control of their emotions with their fingers on the trigger, imo. this isn't an isolated incidence, it happens quite frequently.
