But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I am so very sorry Melissa. Yes, make his last days happy and enjoyable ones for as long as he can be comfortable. It is a responsible and kind thing you are doing when the time comes to help him make his transition. I have been with all of my cats when they have passed and I wouldn't have it any other way. It is hard and tears you up emotionally, but still, it is the one last gift of love you can give. Enjoy the time you have left together and remember the happy times you have shared. Those will belong to you forever.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

You guys have all been so nice with your words-it means a lot to me. The only thing I want to do is make his last few days the happiest days of his life. This really came out of nowhere-I was fully expecting at least several more years with him. Anyway, I'm just feeling terrible and I don't even know how I'm going to deal with being there while they put him to sleep, but that's the least I could do for my little buddy. I want him to know without a doubt that he is loved.

spend lots of time with him saying goodbye and get lots of pictures of you two together. years later, after the pain has subsided, you will have the pics to look at and remember your life with him and the last days with your friend. i did just that with the 2nd dog i lost 3 years ago.

my condolences for what is to come, heina. (F)

For the last three years we lost a family of dogs.. 1st year the mother..2nd Patches, this year Buddy.. We had them creamated and We have nice Little wood Boxes "Urns" with their names on them..

THe mother we had to put down..she couldn't walk or eat... A little shot in the foot.. and she just went to sleep.. very peaceful..

I wish you the best... and I only tell you this.. So you see that you can give them the respect they deserve for being a loyal companion..

Take Care...

My sweet baby dog has been sick for a few weeks. Finally this morning mom took him to the vet. He's on his way to the emergency veterinary hospital because he has a mass in his neck. They have to do an ultrasound on it. I have a feeling Willie's not going to be here for Christmas with us.

I spent the evening with Willie last night. There were a lot of hugs and he was so content to just lie there and be petted. With the growth impeding his ability to breathe and eat, he wasn't at all his normal self-energetically, a mere fraction of the dog he was only a few days ago; but in spirit, still as sweet as he's ever been, maybe more so. I spoke to him softly, telling him to remember that I love him and apologizing that there's nothing we can do to fix it. He deserves so much more than what we can give him, for a lifetime of love and loyal companionship. I also told him it's almost time to go "bye-bye" and that he'll be feeling much better when that time comes. My mom was a mess, my dad wouldn't eat...altogether, a heart breaking evening. We fed him some chicken and rice so that he would eat. He can't even bark anymore-it makes me sadder than you can imagine to think that I will never again hear him speak. I loved to hear him bark. As of right now, I don't know what's going to happen next. We were waiting on the "official" test results to be received today. After that, the vet wants to put him on prednisone, which will make him feel better but not help the cancer at all. I honestly don't know how I feel about that. I know it won't increase his life expectancy, so I almost think what's the point? Also it kills me to think that every time I see him from now on may be the last time. I wanted to make sure that at least I would be there. And I wanted to give him that gift-to set him free from his suffering, he was having such a hard time of it last night. But it's not my decision, even though I am his official owner I can't pay his vet bills so it's possible this may have to drag on...

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

He knows he is loved. I am sincerely sorry that you are having to endure this. My pets are my babies, and losing one of them would destroy me. You have the encouragement and support from me and many others here during this difficult time.
