Hey Captain, I have seen several posts recently about finding a good civil surgeon. I was thinking that maybe, if possible, you could set up a special forum where people could share their esperiences with civil surgeons.

Over the past year or so I have seen many posts concerning problems with civil surgeons so was thinking maybe there would be a useful way members can share experiences in a specific area or would this violate the TOS in some way.

Wayway, any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about every Embassy/Consulate...but on the Canada "Embassy" link up top here, I could click on the Vancouver Consulate, and it has a listing of the doctors on there. I don't want to check every one, but perhaps it IS there already? If not, maybe it could be added. I agree it is always a question, but again, I wonder if people look....

I think a "pinned" post in the Adjustment of Status forum would be sufficient.

Foreign doctors doing US visa exams is FAR different than the Civil Surgeon thread....

Pinned would be fine too. I just think it would really help take some of the AOS stress off if we had a like that could help select a civil surgeon in an area that would be considered reliable and doesn't over-charge. I have seen so many posts complaining about civil surgeons, just thought this might help.

You're right devilette! I was mixing up the two. UGH. I would suspect that each foreign country "embassy" has a listing of their US civil surgeons to do the medical before entering the US. Sorry! It DOES seem like the issue is always the civil surgeon list, once you enter the US. Thanks for correcting me...and my post!

This was certainly my intention when originally posting regarding our civil surgeon experience in St. Louis. I just had the hope that someone would do an advanced search for 'civil surgeon' and 'St. Louis' and perhaps our experience would pop up for them. However, making this a permanent, pinned post certainly seems more efficient.

A new forum is too much, a pinned thread would be sufficient, so people could review those that actually helped them out without keeping their pants as payment.

I agree...I would like to be able to share that the civil surgeon I had in Canberra, Australia was really good and not too expensive. I think it helps put people's mind at rest to read these things and many of us are happy to contribute our experiences because we appreciate having VJ as a great resource for all those going through the process.

We found a civil surgeon that said they would do the vaccination supplement for $25.00. And $80 for varecella test, if need.

My wife went to her primary care doctor, because our insurance would pay for tests and vaccinations. She took all of the results, showing that she needed nothing to the civil surgeons office. They knew that she only needed the vaccination supplement, and not an exam, as this was done in her home country a few months ago on a K1 visa.

The people at the civil service office x-rayed her and charged her $100 for "INS exam". The women that took the cash, put it in her pocket. And they still didn't give her the supplement.

I am going back with her this week and demanding the supplement and her $75 back.

What can people do that are being taken advantage of by the civil surgeons?

If you are looking for a civil surgeon in downtown Chicago, beware. PM me for the name.
