Hi

I came to the states on j1 visa in 2008

I got married ro us citizen on 2009

I filed my i 485 on April 2010

We went to interview without lawyer and it went bad

And the officer told us we will receive letter in the mail

And since then we never heard anything from them

Everytime we contact them the say its under review

Till 5 days ago when they change the status to card production

Then the next day changed it to decision then today they changed it

To card production again

I went to the local office and they wouldn't stamp the green card on my passport

Now is my question is how long you guys think it gonna take

Me to get the card ??

And do i get the conditional 2 years green card or the 10 years one ???

Thx for the help

I didn't think a lawyer could be in the interview room anyway.

Am I wrong?

And why didn't you thoroughly prepare for the interview.

Before my friend went for F-1 interview, I spent days researching many sites to come up with list of questions that they might ask her. I sent a list of these questions to her along with suggested answers, and she provided more input. Then we practiced these questions via skype where I acted as the interviewing officer. I even threw in new questions that she had not prepared for to get her used to thinking on her feet. We practiced this interview 3 times.

We will follow this same procedure for AOS interviews.

Were you ever a boy scout? What was the motto?

It's weird for me to read this "I'm better than you" post after reading all your other posts in different threads, most of which contain A LOT of wrong information. You are definitely in no position to advice about AOS at this stage, you are on an information gathering stage. For me, I don't care, but you are misleading people that are just beginning this process. If you don't know, don't post. For instance, the lawyer can be in the interview room.

I doubt my posts contain much 'wrong' info.

Many people here are posting their ideas on what they think might happen, even as they have no direct experience with the exact situations. For instance, I asked in a thread about what would happen to unexpired F-1, if a 2nd F-1 was denied. Some people gave their opinions even though none had experienced the situation.

For the lawyer in the interview room, I clearly stated: "Am I wrong." This is not the same as giving wrong advice. It is raising a question that can be answered.

Yes, I am gathering info about the AOS process and have never been through it.

But, the principles in preparing for the AOS interview are the same as we prepared for regarding the F-1 visa interview. Do exhaustive checking, gather all the info and documents and experiences of others that you can, come up with extensive list of probable/possible questions, have the answers ready, and practice the interview.

Do exhaustive checking, gather all the info and documents and experiences of others that you can, come up with extensive list of probable/possible questions, have the answers ready, and practice the interview.

You insisted that someone filing concurrently should not check box A in the 485, that they could do so only if they filed separately, once they got an approved 130.

You claimed that a perfectly valid AOS from B2 could be facing charges of immigration fraud.

You suggested birth certificates might not be necessary, that you dont need to send more than one G325 in the package, that you can't fill the 131 if you dont put a specific place/date.

Again, no problem with you having doubts at this stage, I had those and a million more. The problem is you are posting replies of things you are not sure about, and that can be confusing for newbies (although I'm sure you have the best intentions).

Also, the F1 visa interview can't be more different than the AOS one. Non-immigrant v. immigrant intent. You'll see when you get there!

A lawyer can certainly come to the interview.

A bit odd to prep a "friend" for a F-1 visa. If this friend is now your wife, I hope she disclosed her relationship to you or she could be in trouble for AOS.
