And much 'changing of words' here.

Just one example of the wild hyperbole thrown about:

The original poster wrote: Dude. I don’t make music video with underage. I sponsored their music to sell so they can make a living.

Another poster subsequently wrote: You say you make music videos of young women (which I read to be underage teenagers) in Laos so they can make money.

OP said "I make music videos" then he said "I sponsor their music so they can make a living". No wonder the State Department found evidence he violated the PROTECT Act. In my academic career I've done plenty of research on exploitation of minors and human trafficking worldwide. I know exploitation when I hear it. He can sugar coat or innuendo the hell out of it but it's not full grown Laotian women who are making "music videos" for foreign audiences.

I am surprised at the piling on of this guy with so little to go on.

As I read his words:

1) He didn't know she was under 18 (he saw family documents indicating she was older than 18) . . . and still does not know what her true age is.

2) He never said he had sex with her. The words he received only stated they were looking into it since she had changed her name. Didn't say they knew she was under 18 or that they had knowledge of any sex between the two.

Well sure, I agree that shouldn't be having sex with underage persons - - - in any country; but no evidence presented here that it happened, and the authorities didn't even suggest it had; just that they were going to turn the info over to some other agency to pursue it further.

Yes, I agree the true silliness was him wanting to go back - - - for any reason and under any circumstances.

Of course there may be a real case to be made for this person's involvement in something illegal. But the poster has never presented such - - - and certainly no one here has presented any such evidence.

At least I am not saying he did or didn't do that.

I am saying that this is a very very serious matter, and that the least he should worry about right now is her or immigration or going back. If I were him, I'd get a lawyer and do everything in my power to avoid a minor until this is solved.

After she was denied we broke up.. been 5 months since her denial and uscis haven't receive back my f129 application. What should I do.? Please help....!! This is what the email says:

We have completed the administrative processing of your case. Our consular office is unable to verify the true identity of the beneficiary as she misrepresented and changed her identity on official Lao documents in an attempt to circumvent U.S. immigration law. As this information was not known to USCIS at the time of the petitions approval, the consular section has returned this petition for reconsideration with the recommendation that it be revoked. Furthermore, evidence also exists that raises PROTECT Act concerns which were not known to USCIS at the time the petition was approved. The PROTECT Act is a federal law that enhances the ability of U.S. law enforcement to investigate and prosecute U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents for the sexual exploitation of minors overseas. A victim as defined in 18 U.S.C. 2423© is a person under the age of 18. Our consular office is legally responsible for reporting cases that may involve PROTECT ACT concerns to appropriate law enforcement agencies and has forwarded the information to our ICE and other law-enforcement liaisons in Bangkok.......

At this point what should I do.? Just found out that she was aftering the money and had no feelings whatsoever.

So what are some of you people reading? Am I missing something?

Consular office says: she misrepresented and changed her identity on official Lao documents in an attempt to circumvent U.S. immigration law. I don't read anything here that says the op was involved.

Consular office says: Furthermore, evidence also exists that raises PROTECT Act concerns. The word concerns does not equal guilt. It is 100% possible that this op was duped by this girl and her entire family. Some families have been known to put together elaborate schemes to get money from foreigners holding family meetings and setting up elaborate plots. Of course we don't have any idea yet whether this girl is 14 or 27 now do we?

If this op is innocent I hope he is exhonorated, if he is guilty I hope he gets locked up. He is just lucky that none of the persons making all of these accusations of guilt will not be on the jury (assuming there is ever anything that gets investigated) or he would be found guilty for sure, irregardless of the truth. Remember, in America a person is innocent until proven guilty. That is one of the reasons people want to immigrate here, it ties in closely with freedom. It seems many have forgotten this.

The state department never said that they found evidence that he violated the Protect Act. That is not what the letter says.... Why do you keep making stuff up? So your brilliant academic career has made it possible for you to read between the lines and come up with guilty verdicts??? What stock should I invest in today???

Concerns. Fine, I'll give you that. My wording wasn't perfect. State Department raises concerns, the Justice Department will (hopefully) determine the violations if any. But I certainly comprehend what he said, I've seen it before.

I feel sad.

OP, you are facing this mountainous accusation and yet your best comeback is asking if you can hop on over there to make music videos?

I agree with you 100% Gowon, This guy has to be a few fries short of a happy meal if he is seriously thinking of ever going back to Laos, guilty or not. As we read in many of these comments he is already being presumed guilty by many here despite the lack of any kind of evidence whatsoever. But even thinking about goin back is just well.....

They are NOT going to write that concerns have been raised without a reason. SOMETHING has triggered this.

Yeah of course something triggered this. It appears that the woman/girl falsified her age and name on Lao government documents. There is no indication that the op was invloved with that. And perhaps she is under the age of 18. But we don't actually know that yet, now do we? Concerns being raised...the word concerns. This could indicate that they don't even know how old this girl is. Many people in these countries have no birth certificate. It is possible that she fabricated the entire scheme. Is it not?

It looks like the girl lied to OP and USCIS, I don't know why everyone is jumping on him he already said the girl disappeared after she didn't get want she want she is clearly a manipulator and a user so its not unlikely that OP believed her originally. Other than the wanting to go back to make videos (buhahahahhahaha) that comment seriously just made my month, I don't know why people are attacking OP for sleeping with a minor just based on the information he has shared with us. ( Also when I was 16 I could have passed for 20 especially with make up.)

Evidence, is the bit that you need to look at. That they've passed in on to ICE is the bit you need to look at. Not the soft ineffable concerns.

He wasn't in America though was he. They don't give a fiddlers about his 'rights' if this happened on their patch. That 'she' changed and misrepresented her identity" cuts little ice either, on whose say so did she try that? I'd say all eyes are going to be on buddy boy. Who is a few bubbles off level if he has the notion he can go back and try again.

Get a lawyer. Do it now.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
