AOS (Joint Sponsor) for a friend - where to send?

Hi, a friend of mine asked me to to be a joint sponsor for his wife and 1 yr old child for IR-1. I understand I need to fill I-864 with Tax transcript.

My question is, where do I send this I-864? Do I attach the barcode page on top and send it directly to NVC (just like I did for my wifes CR-1, I didnot need a joint/co sponsor)?

Or do I send this to my friend (which i find a little risky, I do not want him to have all my information - for privacy purposes) and then he send it to NVC?

Thanks.

you can send it straight to NVC with the barcode coversheet.

I suggest a cover letter as well, identifying what's what, and who you are, and why you are sending it in seperate cover, and asking that it be added to the casefile.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Nope you can send in yourself and by pass him. All you need is the barcoded sheet from the payment portal and send in yourself.

But know at interview they may hand all that information right back into their hands. So be aware theres really no privacy.

Thank you both. I will ask for the barcode sheet then and include a cover letter.

I guess I need to take the little risk of getting my info on their hand if they give it back on interview. I hope the embassy do not, but who knows.

You just need to include 1 year. But you need the "total income" number for the last 3 years.

Yeah - last time I sent the AOS to NVC, I included only once years. 3 years is optional - though certainly wont hurt.

I am sending one year because I had the transcript.
