Soooooo on the package they requested the I-864, but I see all over the forums and the net that you submit I-134 form first and then once you enter the US and marry you submit I-864 for the Green Card process. Both I and my fiance are confused at this part and we cant seem to find any definite answer to this question from embassy officials.

Does anyone have advice for this part? We want to submit I-134, but we are concerned with being denied because of it even though we have sufficient financial information and income. Part of the reason we don't want to submit the 864 this early is because of all the sensitive info it requires. I don't mind it once we're both in the US.

Anyone have experience with this form preferably those who went through Colombia, but all other help is appreciated.

You do as the Embassy/Consulate asks. They are the ones that have your fate in their hands. Each Embassy/Consulate does things differently. Do not worry about that information getting out as it will be part of that big brown envelope the beneficiary carres to the POE.

Good luck,

Dave

The link the embassy put on the instructions package is incorrect. That link shows you the info for other types of immigrant visas, not K visas. Since you filed for a K1 visa, you and/or your fiancée will need to take form I-134 with all supporting evidence.

The DOS's web site has it as one of the required documents:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

  • Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)
