My case just got approved, my passport is in my maiden name. Should I just get my passport changed and then update NFC of the changes. To avoid this issue?

As already stated this depends on how hard it is to change the passport. Some countries, typically former Soviet Bloc, are very hard to update the foreign passport due to the presence of a second internal passport. You need to check with Jamacia to see how difficult it is to change that passport, and what documents you need to do this. Most people in this position just leave things as is, book tickets in the passport name, and keep a copy of the marriage certificate in case CBP asks questions when re-entering the US with the GC.

Good Luck!

P.S. I would check the regional section for Jamacia, they may have a better idea of the process for changing the Jamica passport.

Hi All

I have my maiden last name on my passport and my married last name on Conditional Green Card.

Will that affect me traveling internationally or working here?

I have been following this link and what I read is, as long as the flight tickets match my passport and I have my marriage certificate its fine to travel internationally. Please let me know if its still valid since the post has been a year old, so wanted to know opinions

HI Shilpa,

My passport is on my ex husband name and greencard is ex husband middle name and last name is my married name so my passport and greencard has same middle name but different last name.

Ur post is few years back but I have a same case like Urs.  I would appreciate if can share ur experience here. Did u travel ? Did u face any problem? I have some family emergency and planning to go to india, but don't know what to do!!

I have read many forums on maNY websites, but u know about India! I have 3 months old babe and don't want to take any risk. Pls reply anyone who had experience travelling to India and coming back ..

Name on your flight ticket should match name on your ticket.

Also keep copy of your marriage certificate as that would prove name on your GC is valid too, might need it when you re-enter.

Other than that you are good to go.

Hi Harsh,

With ur name u seems indian and I would be very happy if you can reply to my post pls.

I have some family emergency and want to travel to India withe my ex months old baby. My passport and greencard last name is different. Will be any problem to coming back at Indian immigration counter. I m not worry about USa immigration but more concern about indian officer on way back.
