Another fee, this one a bit of a surprise because we had not even heard about it until she received her visa packet. May be a new process?

Anyways, she is having trouble finding the A-Number, anyone know where this is found?

Receive at the U.S. Embassy

  • Alien number (A-Number).
  • DOS Case ID (3 letters with 9 or 10 numbers).
  • Sealed visa packet.

Its a mistake. That fee is only IR1/CR1 Visas. They have been mistakely putting those in K1s packets. No Worries.

that's not a fee for K-1 visa holders. CR and IR visa types DO pay that fee, however, and it doesn't have to be paid immediately, either.

on the outside of the visa packet, there were some pages attached to it. you might ask her to scan those, email to you.

One of them, the Immigrant Data Summary sheet, contains all pertinent info on her. If you don't study all of those pages, at least study this one.

IMO, the USCIS Immigrant FEE page was erroneously attached to this 'outside pages collection'. It doesn't apply, to her visa type.

Thanks for the info, will pass it along (others had the same question in her QQ group). I'll also ask her to scan those pages in, we had planned on doing a review over QQ video but that sometimes can be painful. ;)

Guess I should have read further down the page:

Exemptions

Children who enter the United States under the Orphan or Hague adoption programs, Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants, returning residents (SB-1s), and those issued K visas, are the only categories exempt from paying the fee.

ya, that Immigrant Data Summary sheet is useful, I suggest you scan it nowish,

as

it's picked up , retrieved from her hand, at the POE and you'll never see it again.
