Australian Vaccination Records?

Hi all.

Does anyone have any idea if there's a database of vaccination records for people born pre-1996? All I can find is a database that was setup in 1996 so all the kiddies are now on record.

My family don't have a record of my vaccinations and the clinic in small town Victoria where I had them done has been demolished for an apartment complex.

I can probably just get a blood test when I have my medical but I got a little bit curious and thought there would have to be a state/national register of some kind...surely...

Cheers

Hi! Yay, I can help you now after you helped me with the police check.

I had the same issue.. I contacted the city council for each area I lived in when growing up. I received back one letter saying I had one vaccination at 16. I know this isn't true because I distinctly remember getting the mmr one also. Anyway, I ended up getting a titre test done. The GP takes your blood and tests for what you request..I asked for hep a, b, c, (doc put hep c in even though there's no vaccination for it) measles mumps rubella, chicken pox. I ended up only having the Dtap (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis) because that's one they definitely require, and was immune against the others, except hep a and c. Apparently us Aussies don't need to worry about these anyway, hep c doesn't have a vaccination and hep a is given mainly for visits to certain countries like Asia.

I was born 1974, and it seems it's very difficult to find records, and when you do they may be incomplete anyway! Id recommend doing the blood test and taking those along to the medical.

Some of the blood tests are more expensive than the vaccination itself, so you would be better off just getting the vaccination. And you pay full price at the medical - no Medicare.

Good work! I ended up having to pay for the missing vaccinations/blood test at the medical exam. Wish I had been more prepared!
