and NOT the DS-260.

My fiance and I had scheduled and paid the visa fee BEFORE October 7, 2013 and according to travel.state.gov we thought we were all set to go with the DS-260, DS-156, DS-156K.

From travel.state.gov:

"NOTE: For K visa cases in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7th, 2013, one of the following situations exist:

  • The K visa applicant is already scheduled for an interview.
  • The K visa applicant has already been interviewed and has been requested to submit additional documentation or is pending administrative processing.
  • The K visa applicant has already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so."

BUT,

They (Ciudad Juarez consulate) apparently did not seem to care or understand that technically he didn't have to fill out the DS-160.

Luckily they were nice enough to let my fiance go back to his hotel room and have the DS-160 filled out and confirmation printed out so he could return for his ASC appointment.

We were just lucky that he took his laptop with him and everything turned out ok.

Long story short,

regardless of WHEN you scheduled your interview or paid your visa fee, I'd fill out the DS-160 just to be on the safe side.

My fiance has his interview this Thursday October 24, 2013.

I hope that this last minute change hasn't hurt anything.
