Originals needed at interview

So a quick question

My fiancé has a death certificate from second wife which was extremely hard to get as it was from another country and family not very supportive of our relationship. He is extremely worried about having to send the original to me for interview as this is his only copy ? My question is does he need to send original ? Or is there a way round it

Only needs to be a copy.

Only original document needed from the petitioner is the I-134, copies for every thing else.

Just get officially notarised copy, I wouldn't send original.
