Got our P4 on 10/20/2013, Questions on interview/medical exam

Just a quick question really, I want to get a general idea of how much every else has paid for their medical exam. We got our P4 on Sunday this week and is now moving forward with our Visa process. I'm surprise how fast its going from here on.

My fiancee has never got any vaccinations before so it looks like we'll be doing that also. =]

My questions is after we schedule our interview date, we will have to schedule a medical exam. Now the only location she is able to get the medical done is in Guangzhou, so my fiancee will have to fly there. We were thinking that once we schedule the interview date, she'll fly there a couple of days early to get the medical done prior to the interview date, that way she won't have to travel to Guangzhou twice.

How long does it usually take to get the results for the medical exam? And if she needs vaccinations(Which she probably will) Do they provide Vaccinations during the medical exam? Or can/should we go and get vaccinations done prior to the medical exam?

I am 25 years old and the only sponser, I make about 28,080 annually and exceed the proverty guidelines for 2 people here in Alaska($24,225) by almost 3800 dollars which isn't much, which I am hoping will be enough to get approved on in terms of my affidavit of support. I have sent my fiancee the I-134 forms(signed), last years income tax papers, 4 of my last pay stubs, a letter from my employer stating my annual income, position and hired date and current status of employment. I also have 100,000 dollars worth of whole life insurance which I have provided proof of and have had this insurance ever since the age of 17. I'm really hoping I make the cut and get approved.

Maybe I'm worried too much? Thank you all in advance and thanks to this forum that I am finally here today, almost complete with my journey to get my love one here =]

My mom had her medical exam done in Shanghai and she had to wait 3 days to get the report. The medical examiner told her that Guangzhou is next day. I am sure she can get it done 2 days before the interview.

With regard to your first question, you do NOT need to make an appointment for the medical in Guangzhou. You just need to show-up in the morning (they open at 8) and get your medical done the day before. If you want some cushion, go a couple days ahead of time. The results will be available that afternoon. The medical clinic is right near the embassy. It's on a floor of a high rise office building...I guess Australia is one floor below. (just a fun fact) Anyway, it's near the embassy if you want to stop in and ask questions.

The cost of the medical is 900 yuan. That's just for the physical. The vaccinations are another 240 yuan....something like that. Might not be exact. I would not suggest getting the vaccinations done prior to the exam. They will provide what's required there.

Your income is sufficient (if that's the 125% mark you're talking about). I'm not sure the income threshold varies by state...maybe someone else can answer that. I thought you just needed to exceed the US poverty number which would be around $20k for you.

Your documentation is fine, also. Sounds like you're good to go!

By the way, I'm not sure how when you want to interview but I would start looking now and look regularly for open appointments. It can take a week or two to find an appointment date. Make sure you register on ustraveldocs.com and pay your visa fee. It looked like there were 11/4 appointments available when I was on there today...but I couldn't see the actual calendar so I can't say for sure.

Show up at the medical place in guangzhou 8 in the morning, get the medical done. If the medical is done early enough in the morning, you can pick up the report sameday in the afternoon.

We went 8 in the morning, got the medical and vac done at around 9:30. We left the building and got breakfast, and then walked around the area, got lunch, and rested for a bit in a restaurant, and went to pick up the report in the afternoon.

Thanks everyone for your inputs, we will schedule today, still waiting for my fiancée to make the payment at the bank. It's great to know about the medical exam. I'll have her fly there a few days ahead of the interview date just to be on the safe side of things.

This was our experience as well. Had to wait for hours after lunch time for the medical, but well worth it.
