RFI: Police Clearance letters...State or city/county level?

Hi all, it's been a long wait (January) since we submit our 'removing conditions' application, 2 failed biometrics, and when we finally contacted them to see whats happening on September 26th, we finally receive a letter today to submit Police Clearance letters from 'each place you resided from the date you acquired conditional permanent residence status to the date of this request'.

But it doesn't give any details about whether the clearance letters are supposed to come from a city level or state level. We've lived in FL (miami) and now VA (Arlington), but we're confused about which clearances to request for this.

Has anyone had a similar experience with requests for police clearance records, and what did you provide?

You would usually approach the local police department to obtain such a document; they may charge a nominal fee in order to process such a request. If the local PD cannot do this for you (not all can), they will usually point you in the direction of who can for that jurisdiction. Make sure you explain that you require a "no records letter" or "good conduct certificate" (it is referred to by different names in different places).

I'm unsure if it's to be obtained from a local police department, I'll call my local PD though to make sure. has anyone else had any such experience with an RFE for police clearance letters, and have local letters been sufficient.
