Husband has a green card. His parents want to visit.

My husband has been pestering his parents to come and visit us and see out life here in the US. It took a year, but he finally convinced them and they are thinking of coming in the spring.

After reading here and after the visa denial of a friend who wanted to be with me when I was critically ill, I am worried that his parents will get denied and they will give up on trying again. His father in particular usually has no interest in traveling anywhere and he was hard to convince.

My husband's parents are retired. His dad is in his 70s and his mom in her 60s. They live a nice upper-middle class life and have a beautiful home. They don't want to leave Jordan; they just want to visit their son. But, I see a lot of parents denied and it really has me worried. I know his dad's personality and if denied, he will never come, which will break my husband's heart. He's so anxious to show his dad his life...

I'd appreciate any advice on this topic.

Have they ever traveled elsewhere? My father-in-law is currently here but he has a history of several trips to Sweden from which he returned home. Also he applied for his tourist visa at the embassy in Sweden, don't know if that made a difference.

My husband's father is the same way, he has no desire to visit the US or leave Jordan. My husband's brother is a US citizen and applied for cr1- visas for his parents, but they never used it and let their visas expire. As long as your inlaws show good ties to Jordan, they will be approved.

Thanks for the replies.

The ties they have are their home and their family, but as retired people they obviously don't have jobs.

Although I believe his mom will try again if denied, I know his dad will not. It will just serve as a good reason not to travel...a good excuse. He's travelled in his younger years, but only within the region....Syria, Saudi Arabia... His mom has travelled to Malaysia within the last few years.

I guess we'll see what happens. My husband will be so depressed if they are denied.
