It has been 2 months since the us embassy in Kabul has been forwarded the I-129 k1 visa file. I was always under the impression that they usually send the package out with the requirements for interview within approx. 2 weeks. It's been 2 months now and we still have not heard from them.

Is this a normal wait time? Should we contact them or will that only aggravate the situation further and possibly cause further delays?

I suggest you call the DoS Hotline, when they are open,

and inquire for casefile status. use a telephone

Ultimately, when the IV Unit opens the casefile, then the rest of the processing can start.

Knowing this timetick, 'casefile opened' , from the DoS Hotline, is a big deal.

Hello, I suggest you wait because I waited 5 months and then after that they give me an interview and letter and send me email so I suggest you wait at least a couple more weeks and then shoot them an email inquiring about your process good luck with everything and let me know if you need any other help.
