No processing time available for local office as far as I can see... should i be calling the local office now or scheduling info pass? Is it ok to schedule info pass when nothing has been approved and husband is currently out of status..in the U.S .. he came in legally on F1

Here http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=4&office=36&charttype=1

What does his I-94 form say? D/S or is there a date?

Didn't you file for AOS (I-130 +I-485)?

I am getting ready to file my I-130 this week but with all this backlog I think I will be better off filing it in my desk drawer insteadcrying.gif Waiting almost a year for NOA2 is just cruel and unusual punishment.

Well from what people are reporting they're not transferring to field offices but to service centers (Nebraska, Texas, California). I think it would make a difference.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

Just my opinion but I think the "local" office emails are mistakes. I got both a USCIS office transfer email and a local office email, right now my status says local office. I called to speak to tier 2 today as I am filing from abroad and do not have a local office.. she said it looks like my file went to the csc. So until you have a paper notice saying otherwise I think they stopped sending files to local offices and are now only sending them to the other service centers. I could be wrong but so far this seems to be the trend. Anyone know of someone with a confirmed local office transfer (paper notification with local office name on it) since all of the transfers started last week?

If you file, every day is bringing you closer to decision. If you don't - it doesn't. Just my $0.02. Anyway, immigration attorneys say once the backlog is cleared it should be back to normal processing time and that for people filing after August it should be within the 6 months timeframe (look up Laurel Scott in the forum, she was quoted here).

So if August filers should expect 6 months turn around time, that means they should be approved by the end of feb? So doesn't that mean they we should at least receive our approval by december?

One can hope, eh. I do. Again, this is just one bit of information (though coming from an immigration attorney after attending a conference). There are no guarantees in this process.

Agree. It sure sounds positive but who knows.

Do you believe they're actually telling the truth, or just full of hot air? I honestly don't believe it will ever be back to "normal" processing time and that even from August on we're all in for a year long wait.

I mostly agree, but this is a bit pessimistic. The fact is that we cannot take the word of one single attorney when there are so many factors involved. Even if that attorney managed to get this information from a reliable source, do they really know for sure this will happen? Can USCIS really manage its workload properly? What have they done in the past to give us any confidence? The service centers have 60 days to process transferred petitions, and only then can you call the misinformation line to hear more BS. What will happen in the next 60 days?

What we cannot allow to happen is the "it's just around the corner" thinking that turns days into weeks, and weeks into months. If you are frustrated with this process, and find yourself thinking "it's just around the corner," then join our movement by clicking the links in my signature. We need more people. A lot more.

Of course it's pessimistic. I'm pessimistic about this entire process. It's completely hopeless and I don't expect USCIS to ever manage its workload properly because its history precedes it. I don't trust anyone anymore, lawyers or the USCIS. I'm just taking a watch and wait stance.
