NOA2 - NVC RECEIVE DELAYS

The day that we got our interview scheduled, the NVC Operator was almost more excited than I was.

These folks are normal folks like us and the average line person are not the reason for the ineffective system.

There was some screw ball beneficiary at my Wifes interview in Lagos that was practically shouting at the CO (who promptly closed her window and walked away). Another CO tried to help her (possibly to explain why she was denied) but that one also got the it's my right to join my family if I want to...blah..blah..tirade.

Good luck to everybody that is still waiting. It will happen.

Received NOA2 on September 17 and just like most of you guys still waiting for our approved petitions to get to the NVC. We all know the scripted answers they give us when speaking to an agent at NVC. And at times been frustrating, not finding a consistent pattern how this whole thing gets worked on.

So I called USCIS and asked politely to be transferred to Tier 2. Followed to the teeth suggestions noted on this thread how to talk to these people. First level was very nice and eager to help. Tier 2 was kinda rude but kept my composure. These are people who gets paid with our tax money. I expect some TLC but guess that's wishful thinking. Anyways, the bottom line is she created a service request to have my file processed and be sent to NVC. Don't know if that's a good thing. Does this mean that they haven't yet? How long does it take to put a file in a packet and ship out? Grrrrr ! She also mentioned that I should get a mail from them in 1 to 10 days informing me when our file is leaving their premises. Another Grrrrr !!!!

This prompted me to create an account here and share my frustrations. It does help venting out. LOL. I guess i won't be calling NVC for a while. What's the point !!!!

Later fellows ....

In all sincerity, unless things have changed, we really don't need to call them as they'll reach out to us for the next stages of the game.

I can see a couple who has a busy lifestyle that doesn't even bother with calling. Obviously that wasn't us as I called NVC thrice a day - lol

Hello members ... Woke up early this morning and thought of calling NVC. After 45 minutes of being on hold, an agent got on the phone and asked the customary questions. Gave her the receipt number and to my surprise she began asking questions related to the petition. On the back of my head, i was telling myself this is different while I replied to her questions.

To make the long story short, we got our case number. After 58 days of waiting. One thing we can get out of this is that it doesn't take (I hope for you guys waiting) 80 days.

I called Friday late night and told me that they don't have my file yet. Still can't figure out what they meant when they say "don't have your case yet". But YAY for me.

Good luck to all. Now it's to schedule the interview !!!!!

Yea, this is maddening.

I call the NVC today - they don't have the case yet. I call USCIS today and after asking about my case, the Tier 1 operator is now saying it can take up to 90 days. I ask: "Can you please tell me why Texas and Vermont services centers have (about) a 10 day turnaround from NOA2 and California takes 90 days?"

Reply? "I don't know anything about Texas and Vermont. What are they?"

As my head fills with dozens of possible sarcastic replies relating to government worker incompetence and stupidity, I hold my composure.

Me: "Yea, don't worry about that. Can you please transfer me to Tier 2"

In a very condescending manner, he tried to dissuade me from the transfer stating "they are going to tell you the same thing". I just smiled and said, "no worries, I'd still like the transfer"

(Note to self: Next time you consider voting to fund a government program to fix something, remember this conversation)

One hour later my transfer was answered. Tier 2 operator was much more pleasant. She put in a service request to find out the status of the case (and assigned a case number).

Interesting to note both Tier 1 or Tier2 operators said they are unable to see anything relating to the case numbers (example date) being shipped to NVC.

So ...yea, I needed to vent. Damn. My girl and I should be on the home stretch by now if not already finished!

We got approved last week and I know it's still very early to call but I figured I would give it a try. The Department of State guy was very nice, took 2 mins to get through to and told me very politely that NVC hadn't received the case. I figured I would then call USCIS to find out if they had shipped it yet. The wait was longer (still only about 5 mins) but somehow I got through to the spanish-speaking line. I asked to be transferred to the english line as I don't speak Spanish and the girl said "I speak English too but we should really be speaking in Spanish as you came through to this line". I said sorry it was a mistake and here's where it got confusing. She asked if I was the legal representative, the petitioner or the applicant. I remembered reading that they want to speak to the petitioner (even though the beneficiary is involved in the case too) before handing out details, so I was a bit hesitant and wishing I'd remembered that fact sooner. I clearly said I was the beneficiary and she just said "so that makes you the applicant right?" to which I said yes. I then gave her the receipt number and said I was wondering if the petition had been shipped yet. She again asked if I was the applicant/beneficiary. She said I can't tell you that because I can only speak to the petitioner.....

I asked her why had she taken the call so far if that was the rule, and she said "I needed to establish what kind of information you wanted about the case and to see if I could answer". When I asked her what information she was allowed to give (just out of curiosity) she said she couldn't tell me anything about the case because I wasn't the petitioner. She was kinda rude, but it was more the attitude she gave out was like I was wasting her time. I pointed out, again, that she could've stopped the call when she found out I was the beneficiary and not had me read out the receipt number/ask my question to save us both time but thanked her for her time. As she was saying thankyou for calling... I admit I did hang up a little prematurely but at least I was polite throughout the call even if it was pointless.

You would've thought she would've stopped me earlier into the call but at least I know for future that the DoS is the best one to call. Anyone else had a similar experience?

You, my fellow VJ co forumer, are picking the nit.

And what, my fellow VJ co forumer, does picking the nit mean?

If it means I'm "nit-picking" at something insignificant or the like then I'm sorry you feel that way. I wanted to express my frustration at not being able to find out anything more at this time in the process, and at having someone talk down to me on the phone. I wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience, no harm in that.

So not nit-picking at all, I'm actually very grateful my case is moving as quickly as it is, which I realize not all do. Just curious about the next stage.
