Hi everyone :)

I got a checklist, and i need some help about the sponsor's income and employment..

The thing is that in the I-864 form part 6, it says 'adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ' , but my joint sponsor has 1040V form, not 1040EZ..

so we don't know what should we write..the TOTAL or ADJUSTED gross income?

And we r confused about one more thing..my joint sponsor has tax return together with her husband, but he doesn't fill i-864A cos she has enough income to sponsor me..so the total and adjusted income are not separate, its total of her income, his and plus their family business..

So we should write the total of both no matter what he doesn't fill I-864A, or what???

Does anybody know what should we do???? PLEASE cray5ol.gif

Thanks in front....

and good luck to everyone!!!

It should be the total income line if they filed 1040 or 1040A. If they filed 1040EZ (the simplified short form), then total income and adjust gross income are the same, and the line is labeled "adjusted gross income". The I-864 instructions also explain this clearly.

1040-V is not the main tax return form. It is just for attaching the check to the main form.

And we r confused about one more thing..my joint sponsor has tax return together with her husband, but he doesn't fill i-864A cos she has enough income to sponsor me..so the total and adjusted income are not separate, its total of her income, his and plus their family business..

Yes, they should put whatever is on that line on their taxes no matter if they file jointly or separately. Yes, if her current income is sufficient, he doesn't need to fill an I-864A.
