Hello!

few questions and concerns

1. Is it important for me to attend the interview? If it helps a little bit I will be there. Even if not, I wanna be there for moral support.

2. I make the poverty guidelines for 2 but I don't have much money in my bank accounts. It's not about how much you have now but how much you make anually right?? I have a full-time job, medical/dental insurance 401k. Should I be concern or am I overthinking?

Thanks!

You better attend interview if you want to improve your chances for approval. Your chance goes way up particularly in this Embassy. I am a 2 time veteran interviewer in this Embassy(Once as I-129F & other I-130). Believe me. I know. I witnessed many interviews in 3 different days. So take my advice and attend the interview in person. If they have any questions from you they will ask you right there and then. If you don'y attend and they have questions, they will just deny you

Hi NikaMo Thank you for your response! How did your interviews go? I-130 is for sponsering a relative I belive? Could you tell me what were some common reasons for denial? So that way I know what to expect and avoid those situations as far as humanly possible.

They never tell you the reason why they deny visa. They only say they can not approve visa and send the case back to USCIS. I was keep pressing why they wouldn't approve and finally he said in his opinion, our relationship was not a genuine one. He decided this based on only on race, age, religion...which is strictly prohibited inside the USA but there is no accountability once it happens outside the US. What can you do? Sue him? We had so many evidence...including visiting few other countries together, same flight, staying in same hotels etc but nothing mattered. So I had to do all over again, got married and applied for her as my wife, which is I-130. The common reason for denial is if you get engaged on your first visit, specially few days after meeting her in person.

Hi NikaMo. My I-129f was approve and send to embassy in Phnom Penh. Right now we gather all the paperwork and send to embassy. When I read your post I get very worry that I will not get approve becuase I only met her one time and we get engaged on my first visit too. Only

After they denial your case how long have you wait before you reapply again?

Congrats to you and your wife.

Interviewer will focus on that question, how could you engage to a guy you just met? He will repeatedly ask her that question. So be prepared. Get all the evidence you can get. If you had any other visit or knew her from the past will be big help. If she can satisfy she knew you from way back should be easy. If not try her best to satisfy interviewer with a reasonable answer. I hope she will pass. In case they deny you can apply again anytime. No need to wait for answer. It will be a year or so you can get answer by that time I-129F will be expired. If you do need to apply again just need to send a letter with new application to withdraw previous application. That's what I did. I got reply on my first case after a year(Finally) that my case expired and it also showed that I also had a I-130 application is being processed for same beneficiary and old I-129F will not affect anything on my new case. You can file another I-129F which I know someone did and got approved 2nd time. Or you can follow my foot step and get married and file I-130. Getting married in Cambodia itself a very complex process.

My first Interview was on Sept21,2011 which was denied. After spending a month touring some south Asian countries with my wife, I came back to USA. I revisited her following March and went through the process and got married. Spent another month, came back and filed I-130. This time, the interviewer asked my wife how many times I visited her. When she replied 8 times interviewer screamed "OMG". The whole room of people turned around and the guy called me up(was seating very close to the interviewer), and said congratulations, you are approved!! Some people clapped!! Even the interviewer smiled and clapped a little. We walked out of there like rock stars with some people continue to clap. We were in and out within 40 minutes when some other people we saw the kept focusing on that same questions: how could you engage or marry a person knowing only a few days? My first time interview was same thing. I was keep getting asked how could we get engage after meeting in person just a few days?
