Hello guys, I wish everybody s doing alright.

Am a permnant resident in the united states married a US citizen, my mom applied for a touristic visa B1/B2 in the american embassy in tunisia, she paid the fees, been there in the right time for the interview, she have been asked to submit with the paperwork proofs that she have a tight reason to go back to her country, she took with her a statment from her bank, certificate that she work as a nurse and have a stable monthly income and that she own several properties in Tunisia, the problem was that the agent didn't even want to look at thses proofs and kept saying you don't qualify cuz she didn't sumbit enough proofs that she have a tight reason to go back to her country!!!!! How come he said that when she was asking him to look at the proofs and he was like no no, We don't need to look at that!!!!!! I have heard that I had to call the USCIS to send some type of invitation or something, but it didn't make any sense to me cuz if they wanted to know where Me and my wife we live at, or what we are doing for life it'll be pretty easy for them. Is that invitation tgrue the USCIs is that important? Please help and thank you in advance

Hi Emil9710,

I just wanted to share you my experience when I applied my B1/B2 in US consulate. My 1st application was denied due to the same reason you mentioned, stable job, bank statement, work certificates, properties, etc. Then I never bothered again to apply after a year when I was working in a another country. I attempted again to apply for Tourist visa and i was approved with multiple visa valid for 10 years. I believe one factor that affect the decision of the CO to approved your B1/B2 visa is your financial, which to mention how much you make monthly/annually because this will determine your ties in your country and how will you support yourself while in the US. I'm not saying have a high income, but I think it will help.

regards

If anything that would work against her. She needs to show that she is self-sufficient, not dependent on someone else.

USCIS has nothing to do with the tourist visa, you can send the letter of invitation to your mother but that really does not do anything.

Your mother should be able to show the CO that she has enough reason that she would not overstay her visa in US and would return back to her home after the visit is over.

So, nothing to do with USCIS?

1. no

2. USCIS doesn't manage tourist visas. that's the Department of State

I suggest she interview again, paying the fee again.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

95% of visa decisions at US embassies are made before the interview; it seems the consular officer did not believe she had sufficient ties to her home country.

They would have given her a reason for the refusal, the issue is that you do not like it.

As Hypnos mentioned it is unusual for additional documentation to be required at the interview.

I was denied in 2011 because I had an American boyfriend (now my fiance), cray5ol.gif . They did not even look to a bunch of papers that I brought. After she -the CO- looked at who I wanted to visit in US, suddenly said that embassy can't issued visa because they are very carefully to make decision about that.

She: "Are you planning to marry your boyfriend?"

Me: "Well, if two people are dating I think they'll expect to get married, what do you think?". -Oops maybe wrong answer-

She: I am sorry Ma'am, we can't issued a visa for you. We are very carefully to make decision about that.". Then she handed me green paper stating "consider applying I-129F for K-1 Visa". My heart was broken at that time. But, oh boy, our I-129F was approved so it doesn't really bother me anymore though I am still not sure whether my K-1 visa will get approval or not.

Edit:

Sometimes I think the CO's question was very tricky It seems that the embassy already made decision after reading all forms that I've submitted before the interview. She just found a way to denied my B-2 visa, in my humble opinion.

"Are you planning to marry your Boyfriend?"

That is our plan for the future and definitely not on this trip.

I'm just traveling to visit him and sightseeing in the USA. As you can see I have several documents that shows my ties to my country.

Hope you've given up on sassy answers to folks who can make life changing decisions.

Sorry, but she did not give me more time to give some explanation. I only had 5 minutes and time was up. No long answer that's for sure. Have you applied for B-2 visa before?

Most interviews seem to be less than 5 minutes.
