Hi guys, I would like to ask if it's imperative for a minor child to affix his/her signature on his/her passport? When my brother-in-law ( 13 yr old) applied for his passport, he didn't affix his signature on his passport and the DFA didn't even bother to ask him or notice it.. I wasn't sure if he is required to sign it because the new Philippine passport now is signed electronically and his was empty. I'll try to call DFA this coming Monday to ask about this but for the meantime any input is really appreicated.

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

I don't think its imperative seeing as they're only minors. But if the kid is old enough to sign, like 11 yrs old and above, then the kid would probably be asked to sign anyway.

My kid is 8 yrs old. She is not asked to sign when I got her a passport because she is a minor. I asked the DFA representative about the electronic signature, he said it is not required for minors. Better to inquire DFA also for your case. Just sharing.

Good luck! :)

I have read more than once on here where there was no signature on a minor's passport, so you may be very right about there not being one.

I do know the child has to be present during the application process, if a signature is asked for that is when it would happen ... if.

Did you do the Special Power of Attorney for your child for whoever you have handling this?
