Your statement says,"and Texas groaned." Groaned about what? Me moving here? You don't know me. What exactly do you know about me. How old am I, what kind of job do I have, how many degrees do I have, what languages do I speak, how tall am I, how much do I weigh? You are angry of my description of the town in Texas I live in? You are nuts. I have posted before just because of my experiences in this small town will never make me racist against millions because of the actions of a small few. It's a small town, the people here just don't know any better. Many haven't even left the city before. And I am not the only to have these complaints I have run into foreign faulty and instructors who feel the same way no matter how hard they work they will never be accepted. My first words to them are, everywhere in the U.S. it is not like this. Lets be sure we leave a good impression on the people here is the only thing we can do.

You make pretty clear your disdain for Texas. You don't limit your insult to just your little town & your limited experience. You have a tendency to lump all Texans into 1 category. See the following Link for 1 of your most recent insults =

My "Texas groaned" is in response to your post that you would not be going back and prior to you stating you will be leaving Texas. It's called sarcasm. Please note - I passed on the opportunity to quote your leaving Texas comment. Was a perfect opportunity for a "& Texas smiled" response. wink.png

I have a POV which differs from yours = "you are nuts"...? rolleyes.gif Let's keep the personal attacks off the table unless it's done in jest or with back handed wit. I'm okay with that. I like a good joke.. even when it's on me.

As stated b4 - I am not you. & I am not one of the Texans living in your city. & all those things I don't know about you goes for me too = I am offended by you lumping me in (as a resident of Texas) with all others. You decry stereotyping yet ...look at you. smile.png

Denial of responsibility . " don't blame us" Anything could have started the fire. . The lack parenting skills is clearly shown. Who leaves children alone at that age. Should the mother and aunt be arrested.? Clearly child abuse. You leave a 1 year old in a locked car today without supervision and arrest have been made.

Ya, in Texas, child abandonment gets it's own special stuff. For 2 children to be left alone like that, even for 2 minutes, that's child abandonment in Texas.

Course, the Auntie needs another dose of reality - she'll be getting that, in the days to come.

My overall view of Texas is quite negative and I am not the only one. That doesn't make me racist if I don't like a particular state. Edited by Janelle2002

Are you making it to the State Fair anytime soon? I suggest to get into the Exhibits area, not spend much time on the rides.

Please tell me a good part to visit. I did go to Dallas once and Houston, they were okay, but I don't see tose areas very often, only the smaller towns.

Well, the State Fair is in Dallas, at the Fair Park. The better exhibits are inside the exhibit halls.

There are many 'other cultures' exhibits inside, as well.

Today is the last day.

and I don't recommend going on the last day, ever. Is too much of a mess for parking.

I can try but can't make promises. I'm 6 hours away from Dallas. ;(

Do they have good Christmas events? I was thinking I could spend some Christmas time there since I will have a nice break.

there is a nice chinese lantern festival at Fair Park.

There are other christmas events at Fair Park, also.

If you are 6 hours away from Dallas, though, I suggest (instead) to look locally, within a 2 hour drive of yer locale, to do other stuff. For example - if San Antonio is closer, go there (It's actually more fun) . Same for Austin, TX.

A modicum of research is helpful, though. If'n yer actually closer to Houston, well, there's LOTS to do in Houston, year-round.

Hmmmm I need to google map myself again. Maybe Houston is closer. If not I have heard good things about Austin, I haven't heard much talk about San Antonio.
