Hi

I am a Canadian & My F is a USC. Couples like us, please come fwd to share your experience not only in your K-1 process but also how you plan to move your things?

We are thru CSC & you can see our timeline in my signature; I am moving from Ontario to California. Will I be allowed to ship my personal things (like car for example)without duties; If yes, is there any limit? If I can ship, when I can start shipping?

I welcome Canucks on board with their inputs.

I am a Canuck, from Vancouver area. married to USC, I too am planning to bring my car into the US. I had to write to Honda US to get a epa statement that my Canadian Honda meets all EPA standards. We are planning to rent a truck with our items on when I am ready to move. I believe you can let them know at the POE that your items will be following you. You will need to be a resident before your items can ship.

If I ship my boxes using FedEx or something like that, How do they know its after my K-1 & how to ship it duty free. Sorry for being so dumb but I am not getting it. When my family go to the local post office or FedEx location will they give my I--94 copy to make sure it is duty free?

I don't plan to ship my furniture or big stuffs. I will be shipping ~ 10 boxes via FedEx or something like that.

I haven't a clue how fed ex will work. Most of us are using moving companies (which require the copy of the endorsed visa and I-94 for K1) or driving it down. You'd have to call fed ex to find out. I'd also look into moving companies, they also ship by weight and it's probably cheaper than fed ex. You could also try shipping via greyhound.

You will need to provide a copy of your I-94 and the stamped K-1 visa in your passport after you enter the US. In my case, I faxed back the copies to the moving company bringing my personal belongings. If you have made arrangements already with FedEx and they are storing your items before you move, then you will need to make arrangements with them to get a copy of the documents after you clear the border faxed to them. If you are using family members who will ship your items to you, then you can send them copies of the I-94 and the stamped K-1 visa. These copies will need to accompany your personal items when they travel, and the Fed Ex transporter will present them to the border when they request entry for your belongings. You will also need to provide an itemized list of the contents of each box on a form 3299 "Declaration of Unaccompanied Goods" that will also be presented at the border.

I have a question for you: I got my case # over phone on Oct 21st, status says ready as on Oct 25th. what would it say on CEAC when they have mailed packet 3?

Our timeline is closer to yours.

We had the same message; Got case number on 16th & it showed in Transit on 17th Oct. showed Ready on 21st Oct; Then again showed ready on 24-oct with a case status update date as 24th instead of 21 showed before. So I called DoS & was told that Montreal has sent packet 3 on 24th Oct.

I sent my Packet3 forms today without waiting for Packet3 to arrive as advised by many here.
