on form DS-156 it asks for passport number and issue date and expiry date:

My current passport hasnt been replaced by a new one yet and it has less than 6 months left on it, so do I put my current passport details on, and send the form off like that, or wait till my new passport arrives and delay sending off the form? (!!!)

I thought your passport had to have a certain amount of time left on it when you received the visa. I thought it was at least 6 months but I may be wrong. How long till you get the new one back?

yeah you need at least 6 months left on it. Mine has 4, so I am going to liverpool on wednesday at 9am to pay £96 for a new one...!

What I wanted to know was wether I need 6 months left on it now or just when i go for my interview? As I said previously, the DS-156 form that needs to be sent back now asks for passport number, issue date and expiration date. I dont think I can put my 4 months remaining passport details in there and then tick off on the checklist that I have a 6 month passport...can I?

If I could do that, I could save myself £50 and a day out to liverpool.

I wish I could tell you for sure, but I haven't 'been there done that' so I don't want to give you bad information. Maybe point the folks in the Embassy thread to this thread for a definite answer?
