My husband had his biometric appointment last week. This week his status on the USCIS website changed to:

Your I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS is now ready for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a notice with a time and place for your interview. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance.

Does this mean that he will definitely have an interview?

The following wording is unclear to me "If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date the notice is mailed..."

How am I supposed to know when the notice is mailed?

In general I am asking if this means if we will have an interview and if anyone has an idea of when to expect the interview letter after the case status changes like this.

Thank you!

As far as I know, this status means that yes, you will have an interview. How long it takes to schedule the interview depends on the local office - I have seen everything from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Be happy - at least you will get the GC within the next few weeks and do not have an excrutiating wait of up to a year in front of you like us Interview waivers.

I am sure others will chime in with more information.

This is a pretty standard notice that they send as soon as your case is ready to proceed to the next stage be it interview and testing or approval and card production--whichever applies. I am a mid July AOS filer and have received the same notice 2 weeks after biometrics. It has been in that status for 53 days and still, I have not received any notice of interview schedule. From my group of July 2013 filers, there are a few that already got their GC approvals after being approved on the spot post interview. There are a handful that have gotten their schedules for late October and early November while most that have yet to get their notice are assuming that no interview will be required specially with those that are adjusting from K1. It depends on the case really. Just because you received the standard notification that your case has moved to "interview and testing" does not automatically mean that you will get an interview for sure. When you'll get a notice (if you get an interview) you can't really predict for sure. It can be as soon as a 2 weeks after your case status change or as long as 2 to 3 months, or even longer for those that don't get an interview.

Sein oder Nichtsein, das ist heir die Frage.

Mhhm, are you sure about this? As far as I have observed on here, everyone who got to the "Interview and Testing" stage actually got an interview. The ones of us who do not get an interview just stay in "Initial Review" until they get approved. My case is definitely not showing "Interview and Testing", and it never has in the seven months that I have been waiting.

Also, some offices are slow with scheduling interviews, so it might take a couple of weeks until you get the actual interview notice.

Anyway, keep us updated. smile.png

Yes, not just a status update that everyone gets, even if they do not get an interview. It means your case is ready for interview and you will be waiting until your local USCIS office sends you a letter with your interview date. Some offices take longer than others, even months of waiting.

I am happy to share that I finally received a notice of interview schedule on 30/10/2013, 108 days after sending my packet and 63 days after my status changed to "Interview and Testing". I'm set to interview on 3/12/2013 at my local field office. I'm glad I didn't get the interview waiver as it would mean a longer wait time.

I'm glad to hear that you finally received an interview letter! You and I share the same local office, so I'm probably in for a wait as well.

Did your USCIS status check update when an interview was scheduled?

Posted

No updates on my online status but they did send a notification text and e-mail that arrived the same day as the letter. I think the local field office is responsible for scheduling the interview and the wait depends on their case load. I've heard good things about the Denver field office and I'm sure they are working on all our cases the best they can. I hope you get your schedule soon! Keep crossing them fingers!
