that is good news, it means they are looking at your file. just send back what they request. it took almost a month after i returned my RFE to get my NOA2.

but my case was approved.

good luck.

What sort of evidence they will ask you for depends on what you have not sent them. All you can do is wait for the RFE to arrive, and send them what they want.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

You have to wait for the official RFE letter to determine the exact cause for the request.

Reply thoroughly and promptly to avoid any more delays. On a better note, at least now you know that an adjudicator is working on your petition.

At least they are looking at your case. What kind of evidence was submitted? You obviously need to gather and send more. For example, copies of boarding passes and hotel reservation to go see you, copies of remittance receipts, chat and message chat logs, phone and cell phone bills, pictures, etc. Anything and everything to prove that your relationship is legitimate!

Best wishes!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

Don't send anything until you get the official letter. They may not want any of that. It might be for something as simple as a missed signature. The letter they send will tell you exactly what is being requested, wait until you get that and then respond.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

It is most definitely a good sign. They looking at your case. On average it takes 3 weeks for them to make decision on the case after rfe response is received. So just wait for rfe, send exactly whatthey asking for and within a few weeks after they get the rfe - you will get the approval. Good luck

just wait for the letter in the mailbox. give it 2 weeks to arrive. after a week of waiting for ours, we called uscis only to have them tell us wait another week. then our immigration attorney called us to say he received the letter. and the rfe was for just a better copy of my fiancé's birth certificate. we got approved within 2 weeks after replying.

so, don't worry. an rfe is a good sign that someone's looking at your file. and they most of the time make a decision very shortly upon receiving your reply. good luck.

Eh just out of curiosity, did you send them an e-request or tried to call after 5 months? Since the I-129F takes 5 months to be processed according to their web site. We've been stuck at 'initial review as well, just not for as long...

Anyway, once you receive your RFE at home it's going to let you know what kind of evidence you missed out/ they need. I hope you're close to your NOA2, this whole process is a bit frustrating.
