Hello all of you that have NOA2 and have MNL# Congrats!!!!

I am one who had questions regarding if I still do DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157, DS-230 or just the new DS-160. We were approved NOA2 August and had made an appointment BEFORE October 7 for November 14th so I believe the Embassy site states you are ok with the OLD DS-156 but yet all new Embassy links go to the DS-160. We decided to fill out the new DS-160 after Hank posted a new Embassy letter was now online and asked for the DS-160. The new online form is long but so much easier than the 4 other previous forms. You can start an application and SAVE but you will be given an application number and asked to provide a Security question. The biggest change is that YOU WILL NEED THE PASSPORT PIC OF APPLICANT ON JPG. IN 240 kb OR SMALLER. the pic will be appended to the application. The site lets you 'Test' the pic first before applying to see if it's accepted but it follows all USA Passport pic regulations. Some of the info you will need:

  • All normal info of you and Fiance including all contact info and passport info for her
  • many contact questions of addresses of you and Fiance including many phone numbers
  • Applicants Father and Mother info including street address. You do have the choice to state 'Not Known' for most areas but be complete if you can
  • Applicant/Filipino work info including job title, Monthly income, description of job and street address
  • Applicant/Filipino School info of what study, degree and what address of your college. Also what years you attended
  • If she has children and are the kids are planning on traveling to USA with her, Then we need Fathers Birthday and address.
  • The only other question was during the LONG questions of YES/NO whether you carry disease or are a terrorist. One ask if you had official record of vaccinations. I answered NO but it ask to explain. I stated this for My Fiance and both her kids "Vaccinations to be done at St. Luke Medical exam prior to Embassy Interview" .

After this the site asks you to submit with a Digital signature stating YOU are signing and reviewed the info then you can process. Yes a Fiance can fill out all required but end result would be her accessing the application and clicking 'SIGN' is supposed to happen. However, A person can fill this out for another but they have to realize that the other MUST admit at interview that they filed and clicked for the digital signature other wise it is fraud and no visa. PS. in a K2 like our process with 2 kids I had to fill one out for each and at the end I had to state. I Did not fill this out and then I filled in Moms info with the boys passport #.

All of my DS-160 have been submitted and emailed to her and me. I printed out my own copies and it really is much better but very thorough.

So God Bless and remember, Always follow Hanks Guide I had wrote him before this post and he has added all the DS-160 I shared so thanks for Hanks Guide!!!

Early post I made I was some what negative to my findings on the DS-160.

Having completed the form for a K1 and 2 K2's I have to say that once you begin it seems like it takes sometime to fill out, and yes there is a lot of questions but the questions are some old and some new with a lot of family history (dates, dates and more dates for marriages, divorces, annulments, schools attended and employment so be prepared). Once I finished the first one for Mom then I tackled her two children. I discovered that their is a "family" button at the end that can be used and the new form will get filled in with common information from Mom's DS-160 making the process a little smoother.

You do NEED a DIGITAL photo to complete the process so prepare it before hand. I just scanned in one of the passport photos (be sure the hair on the females are behind the ears as I had to redo photos of the daughter because her first set of photos she hadn't exposed the ears. We learned this during the medical exam and was told to redo them for the embassy interview).

I do like the new form as it replaces so much of the redundancy that the DS-156, 156k and 157 but added a lot more questions about other unscrupulous activity that is trying to be feted out during the visa process.

What documents do I need to have with me while I complete the DS-160?

You should have the following documents available while you complete your DS-160:

  • Passport
  • Travel itinerary, if you have already made travel arrangements.
  • Dates of your last five visits or trips to the United States, if you have previously travelled to the United States. You may also be asked for your international travel history for the past five years.
  • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae - You may be required to provide information about your current and previous education and work history.
  • Other Information - Some applicants, depending on the intended purpose of travel, will be asked to provide additional information when completing the DS-160.
