When should we fill in the DS-160 online? I am waiting for packet #3 (NVC sent my petition to Paris on October 7) and I don't know if I should fill in DS-160 now or wait until I get package #3. Any advice?

Thanks and good luck everyone!

I don't know for sure, but I've finished our DS-160 as well, and we're on track to have the Consulate here in Sydney accept delivery this Friday or next Monday. I think it should be fine to complete as you will have the NVC case id number anyway, and when you are ready, they use your confirmation page to pull up the application. You could always fill it out in anticipation and submit it online the day you get notice that the Consulate received it. I plan on submitting ours tomorrow, and doing the online visa payment as well.

Good luck to you too!

I just filled it out today and be prepared because it will take well over an hour to complete the whole thing. But at least it's a lot less paperwork!

I noticed some of the Embassies were a little slow to get the new Instructions out, but for Turkey, the only form is now this one. I like the streamlined process!

The petitioner will received this letter while you wait for the Instruction Package.

Dear (name of petitoner),

The NVC received your fiance(e)'s approved I-129F petition from USCIS. The NVC will now forward the petition to the US Embassy or Consulate in SIngapore. The US Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiance(e) when they are ready to process his or her petition.

In the meantime, please have your fiance(e) and his or her children visit ceac.state.gov and complete Form DS-160 to apply for a K visa.

Please keep the following information for your records:

Case Number

USCIS Receipt Number

Principal Applicant

Petitioner

Interview Location

Sincerely,

US Department of State

Bureau of Consular Affairs

My Package Instruction came the day after he received this letter.

So I think it'll be fine for you to complete the DS 160 online and just save it, you can confirm the application whenever you received notice to complete DS160.

God bless..

Thanks everyone for your replies!

Now big question: when I got packet 3, they asked me to complete online DS-260 (I spent 2 hours completing DS-160!!!!!) which I simply coudln't because they never gave me my invoice ID number. So what the heck is this DS-260 form ???????? I am really confused right now. First I completed DS-156 and found out it had been replaced by DS-160 which apparently has been replaced by DS-260?????????????????????????????? ranting33va.gif

Does anybody understands anything? And where can you get your invoice ID # ????

Help anyone ?????

Thanks again!!!!!!

Hi!

I got packet 3 this week too and I am as lost as you are! I have no clue what the Invoice ID number is and can't find it anywhere! I think we'll call NVC tomorrow.

Also did you get the DS -157 in your packet 3? Cause I did but it is not mentionned anywhere in packet 3 instructions and I thought DS-260 was replacing forms DS-156, DS-157...

This is just so confusing!!!

Hi all,

During my successful interview in Paris last week, I had to provide DS160 and also DS156 x2, DS156K and DS157. The second part of the DS230 was not asked.

Thankfully, I had everything because I was confused and got super prepared in case those forms were needed.

star_smile.gif I hope it helps.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Embassy/Consulate forum -- topic involves that phase. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Thanks for sharing that - a few of us in Australia are also waiting to see if we need to do the same thing. I wonder if there will be some duplication during the first few months of the transition to DS-160 for K applicants...
