DS-160 Forms

Yesterday I filled out the DS-160 form for the first time. Got through it with no problems including uploading a digital passport photo (btw you aren't told this till the end of completing the form). Also, since I am doing a K1 visa with 2 K2's coming with their mother to USA, there are few questions about them (K2's) but nothing about backgrounds as such. Just asking who will travel with the beneficiary and then the next page ask if there are any children traveling and then add the same information as you did on the previous page. (why does this not surprise me about new government forms) But, after submitting the paperwork it now had a choice for "Family Application" which was not a choice from the beginning. So, thinking I needed it I began another DS-160 only to find that it's no different then the single application.

So my question is did I miss something here? Has anyone else completed the DS-160 for K2's? Is it needed?

Thanks

Each applicant much have a completed DS-160.

This from the embassy instructions letter:

All K visa applicants should review application instructions and complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic
Application (DS-160) located on this website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1315.html
And from the embassy website:

Notice to K Visa Applicants

Effective October 7, 2013, the Immigrant Visa Unit will only accept K visa applicants (K1, K2, K3, and K4) who have completed Form DS-160 (Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application). Application forms are available at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3224.html and should be completed in advance of the appointment. Any K applicant without completed application forms who appears for an interview will be referred to nearby internet cafés to complete the application forms. Applicants who can complete the forms and return to the Embassy by 10:00 am will still be interviewed on the same day. Applicants who cannot or choose not to return to the Embassy with the completed forms by 10:00 am will be advised to reschedule the interview by visiting the online appointment website at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph or by calling the Call Center at (632) 982-5555 or (632) 902-8930.

Thanks Hank.

To follow up: Early post I made I was some what negative to my findings on the DS-160.

Having completed the form for a K1 and 2 K2's I have to say that once you begin it seems like it takes sometime to fill out, and yes there is a lot of questions but the questions are some old and some new with a lot of family history (dates, dates and more dates for marriages, divorces, annulments, schools attended and employment so be prepared). Once I finished the first one for Mom then I tackled her two children. I discovered that their is a "family" button at the end that can be used and the new form will get filled in with common information from Mom's DS-160 making the process a little smoother.

You do NEED a DIGITAL photo to complete the process so prepare it before hand. I just scanned in one of the passport photos (be sure the hair on the females are behind the ears as I had to redo photos of the daughter because her first set of photos she hadn't exposed the ears. We learned this during the medical exam and was told to redo them for the embassy interview).

I do like the new form as it replaces so much of the redundancy that the DS-156, 156k and 157 but added a lot more questions about other unscrupulous activity that is trying to be feted out during the visa process.

Do the DS-160 for your fiancee first, the the K2 children.

She didn't hit the add family at the end before signing. I think we have to do a new one.

Check with Greenbaum on this, but I believe you can go back in and do the K2 later. Did you list the children in your fiancee's DS-160?

Cool Beans, Thanks

You printed out your confirmation page for each DS-160? That is all you need to bring to the interview as far as DS forms go.
