Honey, I'm not making it up. I wish I am, really. Just trying to help out by making you see the big picture. I'm not a pro here either. In fact, I just had my interview last week. Based from what I read in blogs and visajourney and from my experience. There's only one way of going inside the embassy (Ok, maybe this is just for K-1, like your fiancee's case and mine).

Entering the US Embassy is very straightforward: Show passport, DS-forms and appointment confirmation (The rest of the requirements are not yet asked for). They will then stick a pre-printed barcode sticker at the back of the applicant's passport. This unique barcode sticker includes the applicant's name and passport number. They don't print barcode sticker on the spot for walk-ins. Here's the clincher: if an applicant doesn't have a barcode sticker pre-printed for him/her, he/she can't go in.

There are no special cases and there's no other way going around it. Mind you, there are atleast 5 applicants who were denied entry because they don't have an appointment letter. One fiancee who was escorted by her disabled USC petitioner (as in, in a wheelchair), was asked to look for an internet cafe to have their appointment confirmation printed out.

If one spend enough time reading around visajourney, they will have enough information to the roundabouts of the USEM interview experience.

If you don't mind me asking, when did your fiancee had her medical?

Again, I thank you for replying. At the time of her interview she did hand them the (3) DS forms and her NBI. I'm not sure how I can make it much clearer that she did actually have an interview. As soon as I speak to her again, I will ask her about her passport and bar-code sticker. I'm pretty sure the embassy already had her passport. The good news is, they didn't hand it back to her and didn't issue her a 221(G) form.

Her medical exam was on or about August 27th. If memory serves me right, that is when the expiration date of her medical is counted from.

That's true; it's indeed good news that she wasn't handed a 221G and her passport was not given back. And this means her case is being looked into.

You're right, the medical's expiration corresponds with the visa's, that is: visa is valid only for 6 months after the medical date.

I don't mean to rub it in, but honestly, US Embassy doesn't take note who undergoes medical considering the number of visa applicants. I don't think the embassy would bother calling every single applicant who doesn't have the initiative of having their visa scheduled in time. I, myself, had my interview 36 days after I had my medical. Not a single call, text, email that I should have my interview done soon. In fact, a valid appointment confirmation is one of the basic requirements at the medical.

Maybe you can share here how the BIO/FP done paper print-out looks like?

I agree that they wouldn't call every single applicant. Like I mentioned before, the USEM told her to just mention his name when she got to the embassy. I know it sounds way out of protocol, but that's how it went down.

The USEM contacted her just a few days after she attended the required 3 hour seminar. She only has to return with her visa to get it stamped to show that she already attended the seminar.

As far as the BIO F/P paper, it was just in bold print, followed by the current date, just above the center of the page.

My fiance's status just changed to "CASE IS OPEN" and READY! We are assuming that is great news. That's what her friends told her.

Great to hear! Keep the positive news coming! good.gif

My fiance's status hasn't changed from "CASE IS OPEN" and READY. It said to check back in 2 business days. I did and still no change. What's the next message I should receive after this one? Why again no status change?
