No, it doesn't. It clearly asks for total income.

Which question are you talking about? Are you talking about your current annual income (Part 6 question 5), or the total income as reported on taxes in the last 3 years (Part 6 question 13)?

Form I-864 Part 6, question 13: "My total income (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal tax returns for the most recent 3 years was:"

Form I-864, Part 6, question 5: it asks for current income. Taxes haven't been filed for 2013, so there is no tax transcript for your current income. I'd assume that total income (as reported by a letter from your employer) is appropriate.

Exactly. See that? It says "total income". You only use adjusted gross income if you used Form 1040EZ (the special simplified form), because on that form, adjusted gross income and total income are the same, and so there is no dedicated line for total income.

No. Current income has absolutely nothing to do with past taxes. Current income is *current* (i.e. right now) income. It's the salary from the jobs that you have right now. It's not the income yesterday, nor is it the income from last year.

For question 13, I'm going to bow out of that conversation. Past VJ responses support both possibilities, and it seems AOS has sometimes been accepted either way. If others have had direct experience with it, I'll concede to that experience since we're just now getting AOS together.

As for question 5, we agree about total current income. No need to disagree when you're just elaborating on what I said. Reported income should be what your employer would state is your current annual income.
