Hey Folks,

My AOS interview for a conditional green card scheduled on Jan 9, 07 was cancelled by the USCIS.:angry::angry: They did not mention when they would reschedule the same. I was wondering if any of you know what could be the reason? Let me know. :crying:

Thanks a lot

The same thing happened to us, we got the email about my interview being cancelled, but they did not reschdule another one. I called them, they told me that i should make an infopass. I did not do that, since i did not get any paper notice from the mail, we decided to go in for our interview anyways. To our surprise, the interview was conducted and everything went fine, the lady did not mention anything about the cancellation, and neither did we.

A number of other VISAJOURNEY members have had interviews cancelled as well. Generally, the reason for delay has often proved to be that the file is not at the office where the interview is scheduled, or the interviewer was no longer available on that date or some other similar reason and nothing to do with your side of the equation. Recently, there was a memorandum issued for USCIS that stated there would be no interviews until after the FBI checks were completed, so it could also be that they realized your FBI check was still outstanding. If you are concerned about the reason and don't receive a new date soon, you can always make an INFOPASS appointment and ask them the reason why. While it is frustrating and annnoying, I wouldn't take this a sign for any worry. I hope you receive your new appointment soon.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Akashdeep,

What Kathryn writes is true, but what is also true is that people have received cancellation notices and subsequently denial-for-abandonment notices because they did not attend the interview that they thought was cancelled. It may be prudent to confirm the cancellation directly with the local office or assume that the interview is still on and go anyway as Ekaete did.
