I am annoyed, really really annoyed. I will write letters to the government till I am blue in the face once my case is over. the k3 visa should just be removed it is deceptive in many senses. The first of which is, once the person arrives here you have to file a change of status costing over 1K dollars, my argument is, why should you have to pay that fee, when-in order to apply for a K3, you have to file an I-130? Ok. so that would not be so bad if the K3 was expeditious. The k3, atleast mine, seems to, base on timelines here, take long than just filing the I-130. That is backwards, since the whole point of the K3 was to try and unite families, it is not doing that, K3s should be processed before and much faster than K1s, its ridiculous and outrages to have to wait longer than people who are not married and to add insult to injury, one must pay over 1k dollars to change status once the person finally gets here, even though an I-130 had to be filed prior to filing for a K3. there is something wrong with this process, highly wrong.

K3 should be taken off the books but with research you always find out how obsolete the process is. (beyond being twice as expensive.)

it took us 5 months to get our 130 approved with the help of the 129f (k3). So it does work and make it faster for married persons to be together! CALL YOUR SENATOR/CONGRESSMAN that helped us too!

they "terminated" the 129 and approved the 130 at the National Benefits Center at Lee's Summit.

You must call and make the 129f (k3) expeditious if you fit any of the criteria.

If you can expedite a K-3 why can't you expedite an I-130 just as well?..

I'm the beneficiary.

Don't have a timeline? Don't know how to get started with it? Do it for the statistics sake: VJ video guide

Filing for a USC spouse visa (IR-1/CR-1) and not sure what comes next? Check out the VJ IR-1/CR-1 guide

Want to know what's happening with your case? Here's the USCIS tracking page (get an account and see if the case's been 'touched'!). Don't get your hopes up though, some cases never even appear there despite being successfully processed.

You can... you still have to fit the criteria which is VERY hard to do unless your spouse is in the military.

*** Thread moved from K-3 Case Progress subforum to General Immigration Discussion -- topic is broader than a K-3 progress issue. ***

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
