My NOA 2 was about August 10. This means I have until December 10 to get the visa approved.

Packet 3 has arrived, and I have everything for Packet 3 ready except the medical... My medical appointment is for November 4th. It could take a week for the medical to arrive, meaning I would be sending all the documents around November 11th or 12th. Then I have to wait for Packet 4 and the interview date.

Is this going to be too close of a call for the Sydney consulate?

Is there any way to send Packet 3 with everything minus the physical, and just bring the physical to the interview?

Thanks

The embassy is able to extend the validity of the approved petition.

This may be a dumb question, but does that mean the interview must occur 4 months from NOA2? I was unaware of that.

Natasha, NOAs 2 always say "Valid from xx/xx/xxxx to xx/xx/xxxx". So technically they do expire after a few months, but as someone mentioned on this thread, it's not difficult to get their validity extended if you need it.

N-400 in 2015 {based on Section 319(b) INA}

My fiance is also in australia...Sydney is a good consulate to work with from my experience. I would email them letting them know of your concern regarding deadline for interview. They may take your packet 3 and once you get your medical and it is sent to Consulate then they can notify you. We dealt with a similar experience just this past week. We were waiting for fingerprints. Our Deadline is Nov 29 and it looked like his prints would not be in till last week, if lucky, of Oct. He contacted the consulate and they told him to go ahead and mail packet 3. This was last week, Oct 9. He mailed that day. We ended up getting the prints this Tuesday, he contacted the consulate to let him know prints were in hand and he got his Packet 4 within 5 minutes for Oct 29. Sydney seems very quick and efficient. I would email them.

Thank you everyone! I have not physically seen my NOA2 (only online), but I am happy to know they move quickly!

Ohhhh, I would follow up on that! You should have NOA2 by now. I am only a few days before you..I was approved July 30

by the way, the consulate email is sydneyiv@state.gov
