My wife is pregnant and she has no family (besides me) in the US, i have no family near our home either. I was wondering if there is a non-inmigrant visa for her mother to come and take care on the last trimester and shortly after the baby is born.

she could certainly try for a tourist visa, but she's have to show strong ties to her country during the interview.

BTW if its known the mother is coming to look after the mother and child, that will kill her chances of getting a tourist visa. Essentially she will looked at as coming to fill job of an American care giver, and working isn't allowed on a tourist visa.

A tourist visa is a possibility if mom wants to come to visit and meet her new grandchild- my mom did the same. She CANNOT work on a tourist visa, and that includes working inside the home (babysitting etc)

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Much better put than how I put it. I just wanted to warn about not using comments about coming to take care of her pregnant daughter and the new baby. I've heard of more than one visitor visa killed that way.
