condo associations don't allow for people doing AOS?

Hello this is my first time posting here for my lovely wife.

I recently submitted an application to add my wife to my condo lease. I was advised that this application would be rejected as her only current valid driving permit will has the condo address. Apparently this is not allowed legally. I haven't been able to find a law about this. Anyone know where to look?

Additionally we can't use her passport as that does not tie her to her automobile. They have strict regulations about parking here and will tow her car again if she parks here overnight.

Did the leasing agency refuse to add your wife to your lease? Who was it that advised you its illegal?

No, the leasing agency isn't involved, the lease was signed two months ago by me exclusively. The property manager said there is a Florida law which prohibits anyone who isn't a permanent resident or citizen from being added to the lease. The leasing agent said he can't do anything. Additionally both have said that if the application were submitted it would violate condo rules if she has listed the condo address because she is not approved to live here yet.

that sounds fishy to me...I would ask the manager to cite the law and look it up myself. I would imagine since she is here in the US legally that it is not against the law for her to lease an apartment especially since international students rent apartments all the time, and certainly in Florida too. Good luck

Send your HOA a copy of your marriage certificate as proof of your relationship, and any NOA she received may serve as proof she is in the process of obtaining her LPR status in the US. That should suffice for the parking situation at least.

Really she can't get approved for either without a background check. We don't have contact with the HOA, there is a Condo Association Board but they are proxied by the property manager.

Anyone know if this is a real law?

doesn't sound like a law.

instead, it sounds like a provision or rule in the Condo Owners' Association . If you are renting, the fella you are renting from most likely has a copy of the The Rules.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Sounds like BS to me. She is legally your wife and she should be able to be added to your lease without any hoops to jump through other than showing your marriage license and her ID.
