Australian police check for more than one state?

Hi all,

Hubby lives in NSW Australia and did police check in Sydney- this was a National Police Check, which I think covers all states. Problem is he has lived in several different states, and NVC insists he get a separate check from each state OR a signed letter from the embassy that says the first one (which was sent directly to the embassy) is all they need. Anyone else had a prob with living in multiple states/police check? This has been holding us up for months now as the "other states" police depts. tell him he CANT order a check other than from the state he now lives in! thanks for any help!

This issue has come up before. Check for other posts in the Aust/NZ subforum.

so sorry for this question again, but i can't seem to find how anyone else was able to really resolve this- Do I just keep calling NVC andkeep asking for another review? they have reviewed it twice so far, each time it takes them about a month, insist they need multiple checks. Was anyone ever able to get help from the embassy on this matter to make it clear they only need one national police check? I emailed the embassy but no repy after a week and a half... Thanks so much for patience

Hi there.

I e-mailed the embassy in Sydney and they told me you only need one national certificate that can be based on a name or fingerprint check, which contradicts what is on the embassy website and on page 5 of K1 FormLetter DSL-1076. The embassy also took about 7 days to respond, which felt like a lifetime :)

I've attached a screengrab of what they sent to me about 5 weeks ago when I was confused. So after reading what Pamala Lycos said in another post I made the decision and paid extra and went for the fingerprint check just to make sure. I also waffled on earlier tonight about the police check process in this link...

You mentioned NVC in your post...I don't know where they come into it, I thought USCIS did the approval and requests for more evidence. By the time it gets to the NVC it should be a quick stop before it gets sent to the local embassy. Make sure you print out a copy of whatever the embassy responds with, that's what I did.

Hope some of this is useful.

Cheers

James.

Dodgyjim,

G007 is getting a spousal visa, not a fiance visa, so the process is completely different (a lot more processing at the NVC).

G007,

Sorry I didn't get back to you. I have definitely seen the same problem you are having come up before. I thought it was in the Aussie/NZ forum but I couldn't find it either. I was hoping someone else who had the same experience will chime in. I will keep looking for the thread.
