Change last name after marriage

Hi everyone!

I'm new here, little introduction: I'm Italian and I met my boyfriend (us citizen) here by work. we felt in love and we are planning to get married. We can't apply for k3 because we need a co sponsor so we will get married and then apply for CR1.

I have a question about the change of my last name. How should I proceed?

- does the marriage certificate have to have my maiden name or already his one?

- what are the next steps here back in Italy?

- the I130 needs to have my maiden or married last name ?

Hello! The marriage certificate has your original name since when he married u u were carrying that name at that time. I30 form would have the new name. And I don't know what u guys have I Italy but any national Id card or something where u guys have ur official name, your name would change over there before u can put in i30 form

Hi!im italian too and my husband is a USC, about your last name on the marriage certificate it stays your maiden name, then with that you can go and get ( if you want) a new carta d'identità/passaporto etc.. On the I 130 you can choose it's really up to you what you want..keep maiden name or change it..but there is a space that says "other name used" where you can put your maiden name.

Be careful because also for cr1 you need a co sponsor if you can't meet the poverty line. You can find all the info on vj's guide. If you need anything(in Italian!) just write me a pm!
