expiration date on medical wrong

Hi,

Yesterday I flew to America and got in on my K1 visa. At the POE, in Houston, they looked through the papers in the sealed envelope, and it turned out something was wrong. The doctor at the medical had put the exam date, 09/27/13 on the line of the expiration date. So now it looks like my medical was already expired couple weeks before I got in. After about 2 hours waiting and having about 4-5 officers talking about my case and looking through the papers, while I was freaking out, they said that it's not a problem because the medical isn't mandatory for a K1 visa because it's a non-immegrant visa. They said I could go and handed me my passport.

Now I wondered if this is correct, that the medical isn't mandatory. I'm afraid they're gonna make me take another medical test here in America when I sent the papers in to get the green card.

Anyone has any thoughts on this?

The medical is mandatory for a K-1 and certainly for AOS. What is not a requirement for a K-1 is vaccinations. You do not need a medical if yours was done within a year of filing for AOS. I do not know if the date mix up will cause you any problems. I think the worst thing that could happen is that you have to see a civil surgeon and get another medical done.
