I recently married my wife who is currently on a tourist visa, we have been advised in order to make a name change she must start by doing it at the social security office, however, she doesnt currently hold a ssn, how do we make the appropiate changes so that the married last name is propertly placed on her Green Card. Thanks guys in advance dancin5hr.gif

SSN does not own your name. That advice is incorrect.

To get a GC in the married name, apply for the GC in married name. Use the new name on the forms. They will accept the marriage cert as proof of name change.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

on all the forms ?

On all the immigration forms, yes. There is a spot for "other names used." Put the maiden name there.

Have you found the appropriate VJ guide?
