My fiancée has a keloid on her ear, which is essentially built up scary tissue. Will thus be a problem at the medical, or should we have it surgically removed? We want to make sure she doesn't have anything go awry since her medical is 8 hours away. Should we contact the doctor in surrey directly and ask?

Also, is past depression an issue? She had minor depression when she was much younger, 21 now, and is on no medications. She'll disclose this information but is it a big issue? No past suicidal attempts or anything like that, she just had insecurity issues.

Built up scar tissue, not scary :-)

A keloid is a type of scar, correct? There is no medical issue with it persay so no need to have it removed. Was she treated for the depression, at what age and if so she may wish to have a reference from the person (counsellor or psychologist) from whom she received that treatment. He current physician could also confirm in letter that she no longer has that issue. I got a note from my family doctor where he stated my current conditions and anything he'd treated me for in the past.

My fiance had cancer twice and currently has hypothyroid, and is on lifetime meds for synthetic testosterone. I'm not sure it would be much of a problem. All he had was a clearance from his doctor that he was cancer free. Maybe get the same for her depression

She was probably 14 when she was seeing a psychiatrist. She no longer sees them, and currently doesn't see anyone. So all she needs to do is approach that doctor, receive a letter she was treated and is no longer under that psychiatrists care?

Best to have a letter giving a brief overview--especially stating no suicide tenancies ever.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
