What is 'enough' evidence for I-130(DCF)

Hello all.

Some amazing, quick respones the past few weeks! Whheeew! Prayers and thoughts to all that you/we receive quick responses.

Finally ready to submit docs for DCF I-130.(nervous and hoping for a merry christmas as we are newlyweds!)

For those who have done so successfully, what is enough information as far as communication? We've been together since 2009. We never bothered to keep phone records of the last 4 years. I currently have:

- my USA cell phone bill history of past 16 months showing international text messages to my husband.

- Calling card phone records of past 12 months

- skype call logs from Oct 2012-March 2013. Print all 200+ pages? What is sufficient?

- photos and plane ticket stubs from trips ranging from 2009-our wedding in 2013 about 90 photos with date and place on back of photos

- credit cards statements from 2012-2013 showing purchases while living overseas (to assist in proving my residence and our life together)

- one joint postal account. Openend with both our names after we married in Sept.

- We have requested phone records from Vodafone Italy, but who knows if they will send or when.

Is this enough? I can request older cell phone records at a fee, which isn't a problem, but I am wondering if what I have is sufficient.

And if there are any experts for Form 864, please respond to my topic:

Thanks!

That seems like more than enough, but, do you have any pictures of you two with family? that would help.

We have pictures together at my sister's wedding in the USA with my entire family. Pics from one family vacation in Vegas as well as pics with his family in Italy at a wedding a few years ago and his nephew's first Bday in Italy.

Enough?

How much of the Skype should I print out for them?!!

When I went for my interview they didn't even ask me to show the evidence so apparently it is not as important as they want us to believe. Just make sure you have every document in order and if possible make copies of certificates and stuff like that.

Anyways when I got ready for my interview I tried to collect evidence so that I could cover all the years that I had been keeping in touch with my husband but I tried to not obsess with it (I know it's hard) and tried to keep it simple. I decided to print one message per month since 2009 to 2013 and I picked one where you could see that there was a relationship going on between us (arguing, talking about family, joking). Unfortunately we do not have a lot pics together to I took screenshots from FB of pics (and relative comments) of places where we would go together and where his family would comment about me or my family would comment about him. For example I picked a pic of a baby elephant he shared with me and in the comments my mother in law told me "just give him a baby!!". It took some time to go through the old stuff but I think I got a lot just enough things to show that our story was real!

Another thing I brought was a pic shared from fb (with the date) of a sunrise in South Carolina where we went for a couples seminar with people from (his) work and with that pic I included the certificate of participation.

The thing I am trying to say is that you should try to look at the thing like you're a stranger and give them just enough to give a window on your relationship but not too much that they won't go through it.

Just keep it simple! I know it's hard and I know it feels like it's not enough. During this period I got very overwhelmed and wanted to cover everything from top to bottom because the only thing worse than not getting approved is the feeling when people think you're lying about your relationship and you could have done something more to make things go right. Honestly they won't know what to do with hundreds and hundreds of pages of phone bills or conversations and they will not know what to do with the thousand pics of you. They probably know already if your story is fishy or if it's real and the interview will be a formality to attend (like mine was) you don't want to be superficial but don't go overboard trying to prove every single detail of the time spent with your loved one.

So basically what I suggest is cut on the evidence! If you print all the things you mentioned you'll need a mule to drag it into the office and you'll spend a lot of money for no reason. Keep it simple, be prepared to back up your claims with documents (so yes to bank accounts stuff) but don't stress over it!

Hope it was useful and hope your interview will be a success!

Good luck!!

Giovanna

I agree with Giovanna, in London, they didn't ask for any evidence at all.

I don't know how it works in Italy, but if you have some prepared, it should be enough.

I had a ton of evidence ready for my I-130, but they returned it all to me. They said we might need it for the final interview, but it wasn't in the list that we received with Packet 3. We're bringing it anyway but I don't know if they'll look at it or not.
