Hi everyone,

Im on the K1 visa. We got married last week and im doing now the adjustment of status paperwork. I have some questions for you guys.

Does my wife (u.s. citizen) have to put her new last name for any paperwork or her maiden name is good? She has not legally changed her name yet.

Also, since i had my medical exam 4months ago, i shouldnt have to do that again but how do i prove that? Is it enough to go to the civil surgon and get my

vaccination authentic?

Thank you for your answers!

If she is going to use your name from now on since you were married, then that is the name to use on all the AOS forms. The marriage certificate acts as the legal name document.

If someone is not going to change their name after marriage, then that is fine. If you are going to change your name, then you need to use your new married name on all the AOS forms. You would list your maiden name on the forms only where it asks for maiden name or other names used. The name used on the AOS forms is the name the EAD/AP and green card will come with. It is costly to change the name on the green card later.
