Petitioner can not pay 165$ immigration fees for beneficiary?

My mother got the visa to come to USA ...but she is not much familiar with computers and internet...

she is not comfortable paying 165$ on computer while she is still in India...

it has to be paid before she departs from India correct?

I am the petitioner ...I can not pay for her online?

ELIS account can be created only by beneficiary ?

It is usually recommended that the fee is paid prior to the alien's arrival in the US, but she could pay it after if she wished. The only issue is that the permanent green card will not be mailed until the fee is paid.

anyone with a USA bank account can pay it.

However, if it's YOU that's making the account at ELIS, make the account as if you are the visa holder, not you.

Also, she has a year past the POE date to pay.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

LOL..and that's what we are doing NOW..we are on Skype..and He has My CC # so he is trying to pay it..what a hassle!....acct in his name But Im the USC and paying it..

Well when I check ELIS account ....account creation page gives only two options

1. Applicant (Apply benefit for myself)

2. Legal representative

I am the petitioner so I am neither of above..

their new account creation page also says...

'They cannot complete your benefit request for you or submit it on your behalf. If you receive assistance in preparing your application, you must identify the person who assisted you by entering the person's name in the Preparer section.'
