We're not talking just being bitten, people...the dog gnawed her toes off!

I am not advocating animal abuse ie tying a dog to a post or anything like that...but if a dog is bigger than your child, you should not leave them alone together in the same vicinity. I'll widen my opinion to ANY big dog...labs, dobermans, etc.

I dont understand how the parents didnt hear the baby screaming BEFORE her toes were already knawled off like right at the beginning when the puppy began to chew. i wake to the sound of my son rolling over, something just isnt right here.

I agree with you. Thats exactly what I was thinking when I read it. When my son was a baby I used to wake up at night to make sure he was still breathing because I was afraid of crib death. I don't understand how the parents didn't wake up. I'm sure there has to be something more involved with this situation.

:o Thats terrible!!!Just dont understand why the baby slept with the puppy?

Hope the baby is doing well.. (F)

That is because some people are stupid and do not have any common sense.

Who is stupid enough to keep a pit bull with a baby... Charge them on grounds of stupidity..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

The dog has to be put down.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I do have to agree, though, I feel the same way about it being a pit bull as MrsBruce5.

You'd feel the same way if MrsBruce5 gnawed off the baby's toes instead of the pit bull?

While those parents slept this happened, and according to the vet it had to of been going on more then an hour. I cant fathom how they never heard the baby's cries. 6 week puppy or not, it should have never been left in the vicinity of that baby. Those parents need their heads examined.

No, they need their toes gnawed off by a dog.

Given that I have just been "outted", I will volunteer my services ...

And no one is doubting that this was a pitbull, and that it wasnt a bitten baby but toes bitten OFF. also take in affect the puppy was 6 WEEKS old, hardly a big dog yet, dangerous yet still not big. NONETHELESS, this is all because of the parents, the dog is NOT to blame, the parents are.

either the baby had the most amazing pain threshold or the parents were "on" something... there can be no other explaination as to how they slept through what must have been the poor wee thing screaming for so long. some people should not be allowed to breed.

I only hope that the little one will heal well and not have too many complications in the future. I also hope the parents at the very least end up in jail. The puppy, even a pit bull, was probably only being a puppy and the parents/owners have to be responsible for it's actions... how stupid are some people...

James and I have already talked about what happens when we get pregnant and first things first, the dog and 2 cats are not even going to allowed in the childs room... to the point of putting a screen door on that room so they cant get in. Even now when his niece and nephews want to come play with the pets, only while I am in the room making sure the dog does not get too excited. I have trained him but he is still a dog and I wont trust any dog with children, not even my one eyed pekingnese...

I feel so sorry for that little baby. Her parents definitely need to be looked into to find out how they could both sleep through their baby's screams.

I feel guilty for pointing this out, but I must confess that I laughed when I read that woman's quote about the pit bull being "less chewy" than its littermates. Does that make me a bad person??

I hope the little girl heals well and that something like this never happens again.
